Have you heard the sound of a squeaking door? A tire skidding against an asphalt road? A mice pressed against a book? Or claws scratching against a blackboard perhaps? well at least they are still tolerable. Brace thyselves and cover thy ears Philippines for here comes the duo who beat Tarzan and Cheetah in a shouting match. Carmela Alonsabe and Glenn Genoso made the eyes of the judges pop and bled their ears to deafness at the same time when they went for audition in the Pinoy Idol Visayas leg. There’s nothing wrong with the tone of their voices actually, both of them can sing, no doubt about it. But the question is, can the audience’s pain threshold bear it? haha. Wyngard Tracy likened Alonsabe’s voice to someone who is diabolically possessed while he confirmed the remarks of Genoso’s parents that they were right when they said that he has a woman’s voice. Watch the video people if you haven’t seen it before, or perhaps watch it again for the Nth time if you already did, because these two hopefuls really gave us a hearty laugh. They are so entertaining and funny that they don’t have to be weird to make it in Pinoy Idol’s extraordinary auditions. Natural oddity people… beyond the supernatural haha. Read the rest

I was having my hair cut in one of my favorite barber shop in SM Mall when I overheard these two customers on the barber’s chair talking about the recent Meralco Scandal. The first man who is in his 50’s said “Pare garapal talaga yang mga Lopez ano? biruin mo halos kalahati pala sa bill natin ay patong lang ng Meralco” (Buddy, aren’t the Lopezes vilgar and thick skinned? Imagine, half the price of our bill are kickbacks). The other man who is in his mid 40’s replied “Dapat sa mga gagong yan binobomba eh” (These morons should be bombed). I can’t help but laugh because what these men are saying are true. In the recent Senate hearing, many anomalous practices done by Meralco (sister company of ABS CBN) were uncovered. Here is the list: I am warning you, do not continue reading this if you don’t want to brew hate towards Meralco Read the rest

Have you watched the episode of Pinoy Idol wherein two visually impaired (the word blind is very offensive) girls who have the most beautiful voices that I ever heard, auditioned for the show? Yet it seems our dear Jolina Magdangal went biased on her decision. Annie Britania who traveled by Ferry to Cebu and was accompanied by family members entered the audition room and wowed Ogie Alcasid with her voice. But with matching tears and tissue, Jolens (marble head) said “no” to the poor girl even if it was so obvious that her voice is more beautiful than our lady judge. Then came Katchry Golbin, also from Cebu and is likewise visually impaired. Katchry sang and also wowed some of the judges, yet Jolina mysteriously said “yes” (finally!). But what is the difference between the two? Only a bit actually. Both Britania and Golbin (not Goblin as others pronounce it) are both visually impaired who are gifted with the most beautiful voice man could ever hear. Heck, even Alcasid admitted that the two were far better than some of our country’s singers because they knew some techniques that other singers don’t know. Read the rest

Survivor Philippines will come our way on August this year via GMA 7. Host was officially announced last April 28, 2008 and it will be Paolo Bediones who will bring us the one sole Survivor of the Philippines. Bediones was chosen because apparently he had a very good track record with his former top-rated show Extra Challenge. Bediones was earlier turned down by FremantleMedia to host the currently running talent search Pinoy Idol but was vindicated with the acquisition of GMA7 for the rights of the Survivor Franchise. As early as this month, Survivor Philippines has already kicked off in the provinces for some series of auditions. The auditions were held in Davao (May 1 and 2), Cebu (May 5 and 6) and Iloilo (May 8 and 9). The other leg of the audition will be held in Dagupan (May 16), Baguio (May 17 and 18), and in Mega Manila on May 21 to 23. GMA7 has clarified that Survivor Philippines is not a talent show so those who will audition should have determination and must be physically fit. Good thing that the age limit is considerable, between 18-60 years old unlike Pinoy Idol which only allowed up 16-28 years old (Killjoy!) Read the rest

Wala na daw bigas (There’s no more rice) would you believe it? Yet IRI or the International Rice Institute have trained so many scientist from all over the globe in our very soil. These scientists have contributed much in their respective country’s rice production. Just take a look at Japan, Indonesia and Singapore which are all industrialized countries yet they have an over spill of rice supply. But look at us. Only 4% of our land is industrialized, the rest are agricultural in nature since the time of Magellan, yet we are lacking on the basic food group of Filipinos which we ourselves mastered its production through IRI. Label me as skeptic but I don’t believe that we have a shortage of rice. Here in our province alone you cannot feel the shortage of grains yet the price of per kilo of rice is rising. Why? because it’s not on the shortage of rice… Read the rest

Malen sent me a postcard and a letter from their vacation in Davao and she has this to say:
Dear Bluepanjeet
We are so much having fun in Davao with Reynz, Ambo and Mommy Beng. We regret that you did not come because of your tight schedule, but I absolutely adore you for that since you always tease and make fun of me. Well I just wrote a brief letter for you because I want to gloat. As in, I want to make you jealous of what you missed in this vacation of a lifetime. Well for starters, we went to pearl farm resort, climbed Mt. Apo, went scuba diving and ate as many durian as we can swallow. Talking about food, we went to Davao market and bought so many fresh fishes and seafoods. I cooked lunch and dinner. Please do not ask me how I did it since you do not know my cooking prowess. Before Ambo left for a vacation with Malen and Reynz, he called me on my cellphone at dawn while his on his way to the airport to meet the two. Below is our conversation:
Kring… kring… kring…
Bluepanjeet: (bedroom voice) Hello…
Ambo: Brother…
B: Now what, it’s 3 in the morning… where are you?
A: I’m on my way to the airport to meet Reynz and Malen. Well I have to tell you something which really bothers me a lot
B: What is it? Read the rest

Reyna Elena was scheduled to arrive on the 10th of May but due to some hassles, he came late to the airport and missed her flight. So the Blog Queen called me up to assist her in finding a solution for her problem because she really needs to go home ASAP. So I suggested to her not wait for the next business class flight because she can rent an executive charter from Philadelphia to Michigan. But before the queen accepted my suggestion, she asked me first for some details about this private jet charter because she doesn’t want to blew it this time. So I feed her in with the details about Novajet so that she could decide whether to wait for the next flight the next day or rent a private charter and avoid waisting time. Read the rest

I watched the 6th episode of Pinoy Idol on GMA 7 last Saturday and the five previous episodes on You Tube. The 179 hopefuls were cut down to 90. Then they were slashed down to 45 which will vie for the top 24 slots this coming Saturday (May 17) and on the final 12, putting the show in its official Run for the finals of the best of the best. My opinion on the show is mixed because the show was faithful to the format of American Idol (Pop Idol of UK is the original franchise), though there were some differences which are really not that important. I watched each contestant vie for the viewer’s attention instead of the judges favor. For example, a certain guy named Warren Antig who cried crocodile tears in front of the camera and announcing that he will quit the show with matching telephone call to his mom (drama! classic!) Or the other egotistic gal named Vrenilyn Villaflor who blamed her partner for having a stage fright and left her eventually on the air (as if her partner ruined her dream). Both of which received an unflattering flak from Ogie Alcasid. Read the rest

When invitations come, it doesn’t mean that you are invited to join the food galore. You are invited because the celebrant wants to share with you their special day. Just last week I received three invitations from three close friends. One just celebrated today and the other two will commence one month apart. To be honest with all of you, it’s very hard for me to fit everything in my schedule. Actually daig ko pa si Ogie, si Wyngard at si Jolens sa sobrang hectic ng Schedule ko, na para bang nagjujudge ako sa isang very disappointing na talent search. Others thought that I just sit here in front of the computer till kingdom come and surf every blog or website in existence. But the truth is I’m so preoccupied with so many things that sometimes when I close my eyes during the night, I can’t seem to count sheep because of over-exhaustion from mixed pleasure, study and work. I’ll just spare the datails mga kapatid… Read the rest

I know some of you; especially mommies out there who can’t hardly wait for sale to arrive. I know it because my Mom and sisters does it especially when it is off-season. But you do not have to wait for sale to arrive in department stores because discounts are just around the corner. I remember my Mom who always cut promo coupons from magazines and newspapers to avail discounts on selected products. And when she already have plenty of coupons in stored, she will just storm the mall and by everything that her coupon can avail. Can you imagine how many dollars she saves just having those coupons around. But in these age of cyberspace, you don’t have to cut coupons from magazines. As I have told you before, this is the cyber age and everything is techie now. Read the rest
