Pope Benedict XIV finally puts pedophile priests into shame: His address on sexual abuse
By bluepanjeet on Apr 17, 2008 in Magisterium

In a historical visit of Pope Benedict XIV to the United States, the pontiff has finally put the priests who sexually abuse minors into shame. To the heart’s content of all anti-catholics, the pope said to this effect that “It is difficult for him to understand how a priest betray his ministry by engaging in sexual abuse”. The pontiff also added that it is a shame for the whole Catholic church to have such priests in the ministry while their primary mission to heal and give love is jeopardized by an act of sexual abnormality. The interview was carried out as the Pope arrived in the airport. As the interview progressed, and as the Pope talks about the ways on how to deal with the issue, America has seen how the Pope really cares about this issues. Meanwhile on CBS, Katie Couric gives her opinion on the Pope’s popularity rating, comparing Pope Benedict XVI to the late John Paul the Great. She said that 60% of the Catholics in America are not satisfied in his work in handling the cases of child abuses. His approval ratings is 17% lower than his predecessor John Paul II, and that most of the catholics doesn’t know him that well. This is a big blow on Pope Benedict XVI since his charismatic predecessor is well loved by all Catholics. In my personal opinion, I too suffers from alienation to mypope. It seems that I do not know him that well and sometimes I feel that he turns aways from people and focusing more on his work rather than reaching out to the faithful. One instance is when the Pope assigned Cardinals in beatifying and Canonizing saints which was the sole duty before of John Paul II. Yet in my emotional alienation to the Pope, my loyalty and obedience still stands on his office. Below are the videos of his Interview and Kati Couric’s comments.
