Fallacies about anorexia nervosa, bulimia and other eating disorders

Why is it that when people see a very thin woman, they always relate it to eating disorder? The Fact: not all women who are slim and thin are victims of these disorders. It is noteworthy to mention that there are woman whose built are actually more slender which can be traced back to their metabolic functions. Some people also fail to understand the very nature of the disorder. Eating disorders are primarily psychiatric disorders and not as physical disorders. Though the sequelae and complications tends to involve bodily integrity, yet the problem takes root in the psychiatric sphere.
Anorexia Nervosa is a deliberate act of continuous weight loss because of fear of becoming too fat or overweight. Bulimia Nervosa however is commonly called binge eating. Patients tends to eat excessively to the point of gluttony then binges them out forcefully. These two are the most common eating disorders. And treating these kind of psychiatric disorder is no joke. Families of the patients should learn to seek professional help.
