The richest fight in boxing history is getting a sequel, and it is not even Star Wars!

Aside from the very successful installations of the two Star Wars trilogy that broke several box office records, Floyd Mayweather Jr and Oscar De La Hoya seems to have their plans of breaking the box office records of their own. With their record-breaking Pay Per View boxing match last year in Las Vegas, the two boxing warriors are planning to have a rematch come September 13 or 20. As usual, the boxing will also be seen on the HBO PPV service and will be live via telecast around the world. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told news channels that they are already discussing matters and are almost done finalizing the rematch.
Dodger stadium showed interest in hosting the event when Oscar De La Hoya, a native of Los Angeles wanted to have his last fight in that same stadium.
Both boxers agreed to do the fight since their last match was a huge success, shattering other PPV records in existence. Even Pacquiao’s match with Marquez did not sized up with De La Hoya and Mayweather’s audience attraction power.
The Previous fight was held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last May of 2007. Tickets were sold out after it went on sale for only three hours. With the box-office sellout, the match generated a whopping $19 Million dollars of live ticket sale, overshadowing the previous sale of $17 Million dollars during the Evander Holyfield versus Lennox Lewis fight.
With this upcoming match, Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Oscar De La Hoya tickets will surely be another sellout for few hours after its release. So if I were you, as early as today, I would immediately sign up for the ticket inquiry so that you’ll be the first one to know when the tickets will be available.
You can see the action live, up close and no need to sleep on the queue just like what you did during the Star Wars screening, because with De La Hoya and Mayweather around, who needs a light saber?
