Confessions of a Flying Voter

My dear friend has done it again. A successful competition like never before. But like Mercedita Gutierrez of the Ombudsman, i would really like to inhibit myself from voting in this contest (Social Climbing Logo Contest by Reyna Elena). Not that I don’t support the competition, it’s just that 3 of the contestants are my best buds here in the blogosphere and I don’t really want to sound biased or what. Another thing is, it’s so hard to pick among the entries because “they (the logos) are all beautiful and I love their personality” haha (O ayan may “haha yan” ha). But because I’m uber special to them (labas naman sa ilong), they can’t seem to live their life without my very essential vote. So due to insistent public demand, I will now cast my precious ballot even though I really wanted to sink on the floor right now. If only walls could talk. But before I cast my poll, I just want to remind you dear friends that whatever happens, we are still close and open to each other and will be best friends forever and ever (haha ayan na ang disclaimer). I don’t want to lose your sanity just because of a certain contest. I just want you to be proud of your works no matter how suck it may seem to be to others. For me you are all winners. Considering the effort you made: pinagisipan ng matagal, pinagbuhusan ng panahon at dugo at pawis ang inaalay para lamang makasali sa isang patimpalak at pagpugayan ang Reyna. After one hour of deep thinking and introspection, they came up with these logos (compliment or sarcasm? haha). For 60 minutes the logos just popped up from nowhere. Kaya nyo yun? haha. So without further adieu, let me now go to my scrutiny of the logos, then comes my vote. Let the bashing begin!
Bakit naman sapatos? si cinderella ba ang bida sa Palasyo? May alipunga ba ang reyna at mukhang ayaw pag-suotin ng bakya? Eto ba ay sponsored ng “Footstep” o “Natasha”? O baka naman hindi na beads at sapatos na ang racket ng gumawa nito? haha
Ano naman ang kinalaman ng Shades? Para ba sa bulag ang logo na to? Bakit mukhang tiniik ang leeg nung babae? may stiffneck ba kaya mukhang naka epoxy yung baling ng leeg sa kanan?
O ano naman to? we are the world ba tayo? dapat ba may almanac at globo pag mag-sosocial climb? Hindi ba dapat sa Greenpeace yang logo na yan? at bakit naman maghahawak-hawak pa ng kamay? ano namang drama yan? Dapat ba palagingmay unity sa social climbing? nakakita ka na ba ng umaakyat sa puno ng niyog na magkakahawak ang kamay? haha
O isa pa naman ito. Mukhang si gulliver naman ang drama nito. Nakagapos na nga yung babae minamanyak pa ng mga damuho sa baba. at may pakpak pa! at may korona pa! at may gumamela pa hahaha. Ano ba yun bulaklak o toilet bowl?
O bakit naman anorexic yung babae? dun sa taas may stiffneck yung leeg, eto naman mukhang maglalaho ang leeg. Sa manok ba iminodel yung babae o sa giraffe? Bakit blonde, agua oxinada o dyubos? Hindi ba kailangan ng oresol yung babae at mukhang dehydrated? haha
And before you kill me and curse me ten times ten, Here are my true objective scrutiny of the logos. I’m not really an expert in social climbing since I’m a typical “Kowboy” na kahit san mo dalhin at ikain, wag lang yung pag-pag. Pero I will try my best to be objective in ranking the logos. Chicken lang yung birada sa taas para masaya. haha Trabaho lang walang personalan. Ang sen-ki-tib, pangit!
Logo 1 - it represents social climbing well since shoes are woman’s obsession (what is it with women loving shoes so much?) and their feet’s best friends. It also means status because no matter what your social standing maybe, if you wear something at work or at a social gathering, it is the shoes that is often noticed and not your face value. A very commendable logo indeed.
Logo 2 - It somewhat resembles Paris Hilton. I don’t know. I maybe hallucinating or what. But Paris Hilton is indeed an icon of socialization. The Dark glasses made the logo more sophisticated and snobbish which is really what social climbing is about. It also resembles a magazine add during the 60’s which gives it a vintage look.
Logo 3 - Very positive and environment friendly… and world peace. Period.
Logo 4 - The play of light and shades is very interesting since it used shadows that are very hard to make in a graphic design except of course if there is already a template. and the use of color is balanced. masculine (blue) and feminine (pink) hues indeed represents the specie of the queen. the contrast of black and white add mystery to the real subject of the logo. The logo interpreted the theme in a very literal sense which makes it more commendable.
Logo 5 - Like logo four, it also represents a very literal meaning of what social climbing is about. The colorful boarder delineates the boundary of the logo which somehow brings ease to the eyes when focusing on the main image, avoiding illusions and confusion when mixed with other images on a website. Simple yet full of meaning of the word social climbing. One can’t deny that the woman portrays social climbing without even explaining what the logo means.
And now my verdict, with no strings attached or whatsoever. purely objective and according to my own standards of logo making:
- Number 1 - Logo 5
- Number 2 - Logo 4
- Number 3 - Logo 2
- Number 4 - Logo 1
- Number 5 - Logo 3
But wait, since they banned me from joining this logo contest because my entry won the last OFW logo contest, I want to make an official statement to the Press regarding the NBN-ZTE scandal:—– I AM TRULLY BITTER! kaya eto gumawa ako ng sarili kong Social Climbing logo. This trully represents social climbing to the max kahit di ko alam kung ano ba talaga definition ng social climbing. Ang logo na kakabog sa lahat ng social climbers at ipagpipitagan ng Palasyo. ang dami mo pang pasakalye, number 2 lang pala ko. kala ko napag-usapan na natin kagabi na ako ang top choice mo? walang haha yan, buset. lol nalang (manilenya, peram ha).
at tsaka maniwala kang 1hour lang ginawa ni ambo ang logo nya e kinareer nya yan dun sa laot ng ilang araw no. oist, di ko naman makita yung logo sa baba, pinagdadamutan nyo ko no? bakit ekis lang yan dito?

ewan nga dyan sa IE na yan. Gusto ko na ngang ipaban ang IE dito para mapilitan ang iba na gumamit ng firefox. inayos ko naman ang graphics kahit yung theme ayos sa IE. sumuko na ako. tutal mapipilitan din naman gumamit ng firefox yung iba kasi distorted ito sa IE.
May pasasabugin daw ang REYNA eh. tikom muna ako kasi naglabas sya ng EO 464 sa akin. Naka executive and royal privilege ang bibig ko hehe. after na ng pasabog nya saka ako magtetestify sa senado LOL.
bakit di mo kita? yan talagang chinaeh lahat na lang binablock. nakablock siguro ang flickr sa inyo okaya walang plugin ang browser mo para sa PNG. PNG kasi file nung logo ko eh.
Buti naman di ka galit. yung mama dyan naghurumentado sa akin kanina haha. Buti na lang nag-concede LOL
