I.Q. your Honor…

163

Just because I’m on my vacation doesn’t mean I am not up to date with the current Philippine Political Crisis. And yes I’m still enjoying my vacation and will resume blogging after 20 weeks or so, but let me just say my piece on this current issue which, believe me, I am dying to blog about for days now. Don’t get me started on the abduction, NBN deal, wire-tapping and the numerous press conference that the administration brewed to counter attack Lozada’s testimonies because I tell you, it will be a one heck of a monster post. But instead, due to time constraints let me just lambast these politicians for their overwhelming intelligence regarding this very important national issue. We all know that the Rodolfo Lozada Jr.’s testimony wreaked havoc among the charlatans, false prophets and forked tongues of the government, and omehow manifested an array of reactions upon the testimony. These my friend’s are OTWOMD’s response to the most disgustful reactions on Lozada’s testimony, by the people you’ve trusted and voted to uphold the truth and national interest of the country.

Did you remember when I said “I LIike Miriam for now…” This time I am 100% sure that my perception of her changed drastically.from a woman of sense to a woman who lacks sense. Miriam and Enrile’s interrogations of Lozada during the senate hearing were actually beneficial to the credibility of the latter because instead of destroying it, it rather strengthened it the more. These two honorable woman and man of the senate was on the “test mode” and purged the moral and ethical standing of the witness. They did more good than harm on Lozada. But what I can’t seem to understand is of all the people, they would be the one to question the witness’s credibility and morality. Credibility and morality? Remeber when Santiago used to curse GMA as Gloria Labandera on EDSA 3? and Enrile, after being a Marcos Crony for years and betraying his master while he cried on the phone over conversation with Cardinal Sin for fear of his life because of Marcos during Edsa 1? Of all the people who have the guts to question a very independent and credible witness, I loathe seeing Santiago and Enrile became the most enthusiastic of all senators in bringing down an honest man. So much for credibilityand morality eh? Cut them some slack will you! They are just doing their job for crying out loud, doing their job as GMA’s staunchest allies in the senate… FOR NOW!

Senator Madrigal was heating up on her seat and can’t seem to wait for her turn in the hearing when she lamented that she already “waited patiently enough” for her turn just before Sen. Cayatano announced recess. The whole nation was excited in hearing what this august senator have to ask of the witness, only to befall on all people the curse of an idiot. Her question regarding Lozada’s relationship with CHED chair Neri was abysmal. The question she threw may lseem significant for her, but the people who were glued on the hearing were all asking each other “WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?”. From ordinary people, to journalist and Radio commentators, they were “disgusted” on the kind of question that she was asking, much to her surprise, even her IQ was challenged by the Nation. In what degree does a person’s relationship with other people be significant to the ZTE-NBN deal may I ask? It’s pure senseless and tactless. Like I always use to tell people who are rumor and intrigue-mongers: Intelligent and smart people talks about ideas, morons talks about other people’s personal lives. That breathtaking “I can’t wait for my turn” came out something as a comic relief and an icebreaker inside a serious fora of investigative discussion which unfortunately was not funny and entertaining at all. How much does a door knob cost these days? Maybe I can buy one for my beagle’s IQ.

And last but not the least, the aging Apostol has flambouyantly outdid Secretary Duque and Sen. Santiago with their feisty personalities. On national TV, he unwittingly lambasted Lozada like a Starlet ready to bitch-slap an opponent in an all girls mud-wrestling match. He said and I quote “probinsyanong Intsik” (Provincial Chinese) and “Crying Lady” the terms he used in reference to Lozada which draw nationwide criticism not only from Fil-Chinese communities but also from anti-bigots all over the country. His racial remarks were uncalled for and just showed the “true colors” behind his geriatric persona. He forgot that he is very much identified with the Arroyo government and that the people are not dumb to see that his arrogance and spite against helpless and common people like Lozada is actually a reflection of how the people in the palace bully and intimidate those who come their way.

IQ is just a fancy-shmancy word for common sense. Sometimes you don’t have to become a palace lawyer or a legislator to acquire it. All you have to do is to strip yourself of any hidden agenda, vested interests and think deeper if what you will say on national TV or in a official hearing would do justice on what you are really fighting for because often times, fishes are caught in between their mouths. OTWOMD condemns such an unbecoming of a public servant.

(UPDATE) During the February 26 Senate hearing, Senator Jamby Madrigal gave to the Committee a document from NEDA with a handwritten initials of “FG“. The handwriting reads “for FG“. It turned out that the initials were not actually “FG” (in reference to the first gentleman) but “FGI” referring to a NEDA employee of 22 years. I think the good senator is so obsessed with the NBN-ZTE that paranoia has already screwed her brains. It’s ok to “doubt in suspicion” but please verify first the authenticity of an evidence because it ruins the credibility of the hearing. Whoever furnished that document should be fired from her staff for incompetence and lapse of judgment.
