My First EB Experience

I was chatting with Malen a few weeks ago when she confessed to me that She, Reynz and Ambo would go to our province to look for my home. I said “what? Are you serious?”. You know me, I don’t really go for EB, not that I don’t really want to but because of my never ending reason of my exam review. Knowing Malen’s stalking power, I immediately agreed to the Idea. It’s because I don’t want them to end up somewhere far flung and go home without finding my place. It will just be a waste of time.
So I set a “holiday” from my review and I did. The day before, I went to a nearby mall to have my hair cut and my teeth cleaned. Malen laughed and told me I was vain. But I’m not. I just wanted to be presentable when the Queen comes.
Early morning of that important day, I re-cleaned our house. Especially my room which is so cluttered with my review materials. I helped my dad cook the food for lunch and just waited in vain for their text to arrive. Actually, naghihintayan pala kami hahaha.
“Bords asana na kami?”
was Malen’s SMS mesage. I laughed because In anatay pala nila text ko. Few minutes past and I began to have butterflies in my stomach. That was not all. My stomach churned prompting me to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes or so. This happens everytime I’m so tensed.
Yes I was so tensed because It was my first time to meet somebody whom I do not personally know but only through the blogosphere. I was pre-occupied of thinking what it is to be like with Malen, Reynz and Ambo. Actually, the presence of one of them is enough to make my heart pump severely, eh nandun ang Reyna, so mas malakas ang Kabog sa dibdib.
Actually I almost bought a can of sampaguita flowers from the market, tutuhugin ko sana at isasabit sa leeg nila pag dumating. And I swear if my over-thinking of the event worsened, I will readily rent a 15 foot red carpet from a funeral home just so I can welcome them with five star treatment.
Bunch of things was bugging my mind before they arrived…
Ano kaya hitsura sa personal ni Malen, may dugo nga kaya yung ilong katulad sa photo?
May suot kaya na korona ang Reyna Elena. Alam ko may kapa talaga sya, pero derigold na lata nga kaya ang korona nya?
Dala dala kaya ni ambo ang arko para sa Santacruzan o nakasuot sya ng Constantino?
Magugustuhan kaya nila personality ko?
Ano ikukuwento ko?
Pano pag demanding ang Reyna at ayaw ng ulam namin na palaka at tipaklong?
Kailangan kaya na mag rent ako ng sampung mayordoma mula sa palayan para lang may mga aliping gigilid sa tabi habang kumakain ang reyna?
Gano kaya kataas si ambo?
Pabilhin ko kaya ang nanay ko ng modess at kotex para sa ilong ni malen?
I tell you, I will go crazy thinking of the event because of nervousness. Ganito pala ang feeling ng makikipag EB. I had blind dates before, some casual, some formal, but that was before Cellphones and Internet were invented. And it’s different because you have some friends who knows the person you will go on blind date with. Pero dito sa mga to, wala ako idea except for the impression that I formed on my mind because of their blogs.
Then my phone rang. It was the queen. Natakot ako. Ang lagong ng boses
“Bluep nasan na kami, nakalampas ata kami, di namin nakita yung Island Gas!”
So I instructed them to go back and look for the landmark. I immediately walked out to the rendezvous point where I waited for them. First car that passed by was a red toyota. Second car that passed by was a Starex Van. Until I saw from a very far distance a blinding and shining silver car. “Sabi ko, eto na yun. Eto na sila.” And I was right. It was really them. I finally met Reyna Elena, Chuvaness and PinoyAmbisyoso in person and they were exactly what I was thinking in my mind.
- Malen, very bubbly and warm.. not to mention–Kikay
- Ambo, gentle, courteous and very well mannered.
- Reyna Elena? eto ang sumira sa lahat ng expectations ko. I thought she is formal, so authoritative and maselan… pero HINDI! Tama si Malen, hindi sya dyosa…tao sya! The queen is so charming to behold because she is down to earth, humble, very, approachable, very friendly at may sense (sobra) kausap. as in madami ka malalaman sa kanya. Di sya isnabero.
My score? 2 out of 3
The funny thing that happened is that when I introduced them to my parents (particularly to my dad), Reynz exclaimed in a very manly voice with a trace of bicolano accent and a dash of english twang:
Ako po si XXXXXXX XXXXXXX, ang may ari ng ReynaElena.com
hahaha. sa loob loob ko, mamaya tatanungin ako ng tatay ko. at yun na nga, tinanong na ako sa kusina.
Ano yung Reyna Elena.com? Bakit lalaki ang may ari nun? ano yun sagala ba yun sa internet?
hahahaha so sabi ko na lang sa Dad ko who is very curious and very inquisitive of things he doesn’t understand well:
Hindi po, yun po ay blog ng OFW kung saan marami napuntang OFW para magbasa. Ay mali po pala, hindi po blog yun, CHAT ROOM po yun!
Ahhhhhh ganun pala yun.. eh bakit Reyna Elena?
Dati po kasi nyang girlfriend ay Reyna Elena, sya po ang konsorte palage. so as a remembrance, he named it after her.
hahahaha. hindi alam ng tatay ko na Sireyna Pala ang Reyna. hahaha. later I told my parents the truth. and my dad was surprised.
“Hindi Halata. akala ko nga anak nya yung isa at asawa yung babae”.
hahahaha. Holy Family! My dad and mom’s words about them when they left were:
“such nice people. Maswerte ka at ang mga nakakaibigan mo sa internet ay mababait na tao. Ang gagalang nila. Sabhin mo bumalik sila next time, sa piyesta kamo”
Actually my mom had a quick chat with the three during lunch. The EB was a short one because they still have to travel back to manila because of Reynz’ appointment. I was so eager to treat them pa naman sa floating kamayan sa palaisdaan and a few drinks in bars. pero they really have to go.
I was also supposed to go to the next set of EB in ortigas pero an evaluation exam was scheduled for two days, hitting the exact date of my supposed second EB. I already bought food and pasalubong for them and for Reynz’ friends in the US pero I had no choice but to skip the EB for my pre-nclex exam.

I only have four words to sum up my first ever experience with my three blog friends: “ANG BABAIT NILA, SOBRA!” Thank you so much for taking all the trouble of travelling hundreds of kilometers just to meet me. My first ever EB was a blast… bitin pero it was such an awesome experience. It is indeed wonderful to meet blogfriends in person.
I took a step forward for my blog maturity through the EB and all I can say is that… IT”S ALL WORTH IT! can’t wait for the next, next year!
