Sharing A Part Of You
By bluepanjeet on Oct 26, 2007 in *Open Door

In 1999, I was able to extend the life of a friend. His name was Jayvee Hernandez. We were seminarians back then and Jayvee was a friend of a friend. Unfortunately, a rare malignant neoplastic disease (cancer) called Aplastic Anemia wherein his bone marrow was not anymore capable of producing blood, struck him at his young age of 21. We were immediately asked to donate blood upon the request of some of his friends. When I went to the hospital, my blood type is the perfect match for Jayvee’s. Since then I became his official blood bank. Whenever he needed blood I was always there to share mine. My formator said back then that my blood is literally running into Jayvee’s veins.
I could never forget that experience. He taught me how to share my life literally for others and giving a part of myself without asking for anything in return.
After 8 years, I was called by a voice inside me to help once again those who are in need.
I saw this bulletin of one of my Friends in Friendster named Thea:
“Dear friends,
my mom is currently in UST hospital… she will have her tumor removed… we need blood donors… if anyone of you is willing to donate please go to UST and mention that you are donating for Luz or Lucia Rubi..
Thank you.
God will repay you for your generosity…
Please also pray for all of us in our family… (her clinical impression is colon cancer with liver metastases)”
My heart melted when I read her letter so I was compelled to write this post as to reach out to you my dear readers here in OTWOMD, especially those who are living in Mega Manila, to ask for your help in giving her mother blood which she is in dire need of. Any type of blood will do because of the exchange program of the hospital.
To donate blood for Thea’s mom in UST Hospital, contact Thea’s Sister: Reggie Tiongson – 0917-837-0119 at Room 3060, San Rafael Ward. The patient’s name is Lucia Rubi
or you can contact Malen Ada of Chuvaness Blog @ this number 0915-595-1838. She was kind enough to offer her help as a contact person. Malen will be going to UST on Monday, October 29, 2007. If you want you can tag along with her and experience the power of caring and sharing your life for others…
I know some of you are busy with your own lives but I am knocking on your generous heart in order to share what you have (your blood of any type will do) for others. Those of you, who are living in Manila, please spend at least 60 minutes in donating your blood for this person. God will be the one who will repay you.
Here are some of the benefits that you can get when you donate your blood:
- You could save someone’s life!
- It takes away toxins stored in the body
- It removes blood waste and reproduce new blood thus cleansing your system
- Each time you give blood, you remove some of the iron it contains. High blood iron levels, Sullivan believes, can increase the risk of heart disease. Iron has been shown to speed the oxidation of cholesterol, a process thought to increase the damage to arteries that ultimately leads to cardiovascular disease.
- There will be an invigorated feeling by giving blood on a regular basis
- You’ll have the fulfillment and hapiness that you helped someone
I am hoping that some of you who are reading this and are residing in Manila and nearby cities would somehow respond to this rare opportunity to help and save a life.
Hindi pa man po ay nagpapasalamat na ako sa inyong lahat.
May The Lord Bless Your Generous Hearts.

“Dearest Lord, I lift up to you all our brothers and sisters who are all taking part of your cross. May you give them the strength to endure everything that you placed on their shoulders, and enlightening them that this is all part of your purposeful will. May your name be glorified in these living martyrs that you placed in our midst, having in them your very image on Calvary. May these people, namely Nanay Lucia, Jean, Parisukat, Brokeman, Emmy, Rino, Becca and everyone who are weak in body but strong in spirit, remind us that we are not alone in this world, that we are journeying with everyone, in sickness and in health. May Your Holy Will Be Done, in the name of your glorious Son…Amen.”
“Mary, comfort of the sick, pray for us”…

Hello brother..
Maraming salamat sa tulong mo… nakakatouch naman itong ginawa mo para sa amin… at sa mommy ko… More than anything else, it’s your prayers that really mean so much. Sa totoo lang I felt that the burden was lightened when i found out that a lot of people are praying for us..
Mas matatag na loob ko ngayon sa anumang plano ng Diyos para sa amin… Lagi ko naman kasing hinahayaan si God ang umupo sa driver’s seat ng buhay ko kaya wala akong dapat ipangamba..
Salamat talaga… God will remember all these that you have done for your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ… God bless…
