@ Dom OSB,

ei' padre, good thing you are moving on with the feedreader. Its good isn't it? You can ask other people for info about things. don't be shy. I used to be like that noon. The mere fact that they are offering help just shows that they are willing to lend a hand. Thanks for the vote of confidence. hehehe. Thanks for the DVD. I am really looking for that movie "the monastery" on youtube, limewire, veo and dailymotion but I can't seem to find it. At last malalaman ko narin kung sino dun sa lima yung nakatagal dyan sa monastery... But my guess is the "Former Satanist" or the "Former" alcoholic" or maybe the Superior of the Monastery went out hahaha.

@Russ,

its good actually for entertainment purposes but not for scholastic endeavors. That's why if one has no strong faith and will read the book, she/he will easily fall into believing that it's true because the approach of Brown is very convincing in some paragraphs in between.

1. lol yeah and you can be able to read what your better half is thinking at the moment. women sometimes are hard to read.. lol

2. that was 10 years ago I think but its really awesome. the experience literally broght me to new heights. they closed the mountain for five years because of nature abuse and acts of lasciviousness on the camp :(, but hey Mt. Makulot in Lipa is a great climb really, and an awesome view of taal volcano.

3. yeah, haven't strummed my guitar for months for months now. but if I became famous, you'll be the first one to know and hear my composition Doc. :) (no kidding).

4. me too. i'm not a fan of Grey's Anatomy. I'm more of House MD kind of guy. It's funnier than Grey's plus the fact that the cases are really intuitive and informative. Ang galing ng writer nun.

5. Though I don't like it that much but Brown has really been great in making people believe that it is true. That is an indication of an excellent novelist. me too I don't agree of banning the book. my take is, there is a pulpit to counteract and explain to the parishioners what's the hype on the book is all about. para kasi may itinatago na wala naman dapat. So let the intelligence of the faithful decide whether to believe or not to believe.

6. lol because I obviously looked like a cartoon hero lol.

7. Ganda nung TWM. That booksaved my life. try to read "we neurotics" you can somehow see yourself as I saw mine. though its already out of print, my copy was given by a priest which I forgot to return.

8. you really have a point there. i haven't read the book which you quoted but it seems really interesting. Actually i had a clash with some traditionalists catholics months ago because they are bashing other religion in the friendster forum. I defended some of the moslems and other denominations because I'm sick and tired of discriminating people on the basis of religion. What I wish is pure and simple. live in harmony whether one has faith or none without compromising each other's belief. I think its possible since many have already tried it successfully like John Paul II during the Assisi Convergence in 1986. Yet i do hope some people understand that my primary mission, aside from promoting eccumenism, is also to spread the word of God and what it did to my life. :) That's why i'm trying my best not to offend other's religious and spiritual sensitivities.

and yeah I also don't believe that Einstein believe in God. The same vein as what Minnie Driver said years ago... 'There is a higher force out there but its definitely not God". all I said in Driver's forum was "May the Force be with you!" lol. But hey, It's one of my favorite quotes, it somehow edifies what I believe in.

10. Ah yeah, I got your point now doc. I thought you are referring to selfishness as an absolute. I stand corrected. I misinterpreted the question. Pardon me, there still remnants left in me that still needs to be grounded on reality, e.g. being too moralistic and Idealistic. hehehe

Thank you doc for your comments here. I never expected it really. I appreciate it very much as a professional health care provider to another prof. health care provider. I hope you don't mind subscribing to your feed and maybe these coming days link your site up for others to visit. I enjoyed both yours and Karla's questions.

My reactions to all the questions answered:

1) I would love to have Professor X's power :-)
2) I haven't been to Mt. Banahaw. I envy you.
3) I wish I could hear your favorite composition.
4) I don't exactly watch Grey's Anatomy so I can't really comment on it...
5) Yeah, I don't understand all the hype about the book. Yes, I do love reading the book but I know it's just fiction. It may have renewed my interested in the Magdalene but I don't understand why some people have to be offended by it. Most of these people reason out that it should be banned because it is fiction that masquerades as the truth. But isn't it true with all novels? A good novelist will have to make his readers believe that what he's writing is true (at least, in the literary sense). But, it is up to the person to discriminate that it is just novel fiction and not the real-life truth.
6) What a coincidence that both Karla and I thought of superheroes for our first questions! :-)
7) I like Tuesdays with Morrie. I want to be a teacher like Morrie :-) The other books, I haven't read yet.
8) I am not one who'd like to force others to have my belief. But I just want to share my thoughts. I think Sam Harris does have a point there, though he may sound a bit harsh. How the people nowadays have utilized religion is destroying our world. To examine the world religions, never has there been a religion who'd tolerate a "nonbeliever". It has always been us, the believers, and them, the non-believers (or the pagans or the heathens). Intolerance for another religion has always been in the creed of every religion. In our churches, we may be taught that we should understand one another. But deep in the minds of the parishioners, it has always been ingrained that "I'm faithful. I'm a believer. They who do not believe in the higher power are unbelievers and they'll perish in hell." Isn't this true?

Yes, religion is a guide. But a guide meant that it is not an absolute necessity, isn't it? We can still be moral without religion. We are naturally moral beings. I'd rather make a distinction between religiosity and spirituality.

I don't believe Albert Einstein really believed in a personal God. There had been writings made by him that were found that explicitly said he does not believe in a personal God. Rather, he believes that there is a Creator, who is the beginning of everything, but does not concern himself with the actions of his creations. But then, how can we tell that he did write those? Oh well, maybe we'll never know.

9) Yes, I agree that we need more compassion in this world today.

10) I don't think we have to be apologetic for being selfish all the time. There are situations that being selfish is the natural reaction. Biologically speaking, we have a tendency, of course, to look after our needs and wants. We are not self-destructing beings. So, if we act on something to ensure our survival, then it is a selfishness that we shouldn't apologize for. However, if in the course of committing that selfishness act we hurt others intentionally, that that's the time that selfishness can indeed be evil.

I hope you enjoyed those questions. Interesting topics for discussion, isn't? :-)
