wyd-2011-day-4-nuns-escorialAugust 19, 2011 – Day 4 of World youth day during the second day of Pope Benedict XVI in Spain was a day of two significant meetings. One is Pope Benedict XVI’s meeting with the religious women and the second adjacent meeting was with the young university professors, both of which are held in the centuries old Escorial monastery in madrid. Pope Benedict XVI specifically requested three meetings to be held during the world youth day, two of which are held this day and the other is a meeting with the seminarians. Usually, especially when the Pope felt a need to address some issues, encourage the faithful or send them on a significant mission, tgatherings such as these are necessary. Like for example in the meeting with the women religious, its very timely that the Pope asked for the presence of the young professed and aspiring nuns from both active and contemplative branch of the institution in oprder to encourage them and to convey his message that he fully supports them and he is aware of their need especially in times when modern nuns sheds-off their habits. In the other meeting held at the same Venue inside the magnificent Church, Pope Benedict challenged the young professors present to proclaim truth, help the young students to seek God and prevents academies to become a mere technical schools for seeking courses of employment in the near future. He also admonished professors not to draw the students to themselves but to the truth of God’s existence. Both meetings ended with applause and great admiration from both the young religious and young professors alike.
