August 17, 2011 – I don’t agree with some of these Pilgrims who argued with some of the Spanish Protesters. They could end up fighting or hurting other people. By Experience, mobs such as protesters are always fueled by anger and emotion. All you need to make them violent is to throw out some words they don’t like to hear or make some gestures that will really annoy them. Good thing the argument happened between the protester and the pilgrims did not end up into a fist fight. No matter how evil a group of people is, there is no excuse for a Christian to throw back that same evil. In fairness to the Pilgrims, they were not violent or even crass, they were just defending the Pope and World Youth day. But in such case as this, the defensive stance is unnecessary. They are in a foreign soil facing foreign people. They are actually strangers in a strange land. They do not know the temperament of the people. So next time I hope, the pilgrims will just ignore these protesters, for their safety and for the safety of others. Because this might turn out into a religious hatred. We continue to pray for the safety and success of the Pilgrims and the Pope.
