One of the best parts in World Youth Days is the manner on how pilgrims arrive at the venue. In 1995 Manila World Youth Day, pilgrims and delegates from around the world carrying their respective banners troupe to Quirino Grandstand during the opening mass via the network of streets serving as veins leading to the venue. As young people walk to the venue, hundreds and thousands of delegates appear on each corner of the streets, chanting, singing and shouting expressions of joy. In Sydney last 2008, Young people also walk through the main streets going to the Barangaroo for the opening mass. In Madrid, pilgrims appear gradually until it finally choked the streets leading to Cibeles Square. Some came as early as they can so that they can find a good seat which has the good view of everything happening at the stage. Photos you are about to see are images of the arrival of pilgrims in drizzle until it poured into one big tidal wave of Catholic young people.
