World Youth Day is not just empty partying in the streets, empty noise and jubilation, empty purposes. WYD, after all, is an activity wrapped in Prayer. Everything that a delegate or a pilgrim do in WYD is pray. The success of every world youth day event depends on how the people pray. Even pilgrims are not spared in praying. A lot of the people may think that it is all travel and meeting people. But the truth is, 90% of the time, you are going to pray, not only by yourself but with the whole world. In fact, this year, organizers has set up a 24/7 adoration chapel that will be manned by different people in prayer per hour shift in order to maintain the atmosphere of prayer in WYD. The Photos that you will see in this post are photos of people caught candidly in actual prayer: religious nuns, brothers, priests, layman, elderly, young, old, rich, poor, volunteers, participants. All walks of life is represented here. I decided to put them all up together in one entry so that young people who didn’t make it to Madrid this year, may know that prayer is very essential in WYD. Many nuns and priests got their call to the priesthood and religous life through World Youth Day, and not a single one of them didn’t pray. All together in this blessed days of the youth in Madrid, let us pray in unison not just as Catholics, but also the sons and daughters of the Father, that this event will bear fruit not just for madrid but for all countries represented by the pilgrims.
