update-stage-cuatro-vientosI promised you previously on my post that once I get news about this mysterious stage at Cuatro Vientos, I will immediately blog about it. well, still I have no news. But we are making progress because we have the latest photos of the stage and we can only make wise guesses based on the photos we receive. The stage at this point becomes more intriguing as it takes shape. The gigantic white background of the stage was now embellished with a gigantic World Youth Day 2011 Madrid Logo on the far right side. At least our earlier guesses became true about the purpose of the white background. But the canopy at the center proves most intriguing. Usually we expect a large canopy for the pope that will cover at least an entire delegates of bishops and priests during the mass but gathering for the photos we have, it seems the only covered area on the stage , where I presume the Pope will sit, is at the middle part shaped like an Olympic cauldron. I am not expecting that a fire will be lit on it during the Youth Vigil, but based on the shape it’s more of a cauldron than a canopy.  It hardly provide shade for the people under it (refer to the photos). So what do you think is it? The Spanish armada is full of surprises and we are all loving the excitement and the intrigues. How about you? What do you think?

It hardly makes a shade for the people under it. Is it a Canopy or a Giant Cauldron? Who knows?

according to my mother who watched the JMJ on tv, the cauldron seemed to emit cooling gas/water to the pope.

Yeah I noticed it too when I watched the broadcast. Actually, one of the WYD Organizers who I talked to said that the big cauldron-like canopy actually represents a tree with roots. It symbolizes the WYD Theme, “Rooted and Built Up in Jesus Christ, Firm in the Faith” (Col 2:7). The massive white background resemble waterfalls, water flowing in the tree, tree of life, water of life. It can also represent a tsunami or tidal wave, that if it hits the tree, the tree will not be uprooted because it is deeply rooted. Too bad the media covering the event did not explained the meaning and symbolism of the stage. :)
