Before leaving for Castel Gandolfo, the Papal residence in the Alban Hills, the Pope took take visiting the exhibit dedicated to Pope John Paul II which opened before the Pontiff’s beatification rites and will end on July 24, 2011. The exhibit has been set up in Braccio di Carlo Magno in St. Peter’s Basilica and admission is free. Among the memorabilia on display, there are also the Pope’s ski boots, his bicycle, overalls worn by miners at that time, the black dress of the young priest Karol Wojtyla, the violet bishop’s robe and the purple Cardinal robe. After the visit that morning, precisely an hour in visiting the 15 section exhibit, Pope Benedict XVI left the exhibit and was scheduled to leave Vatican to go to Castel Gandolfo to spend the rest of the summer months. But the pope delayed his plans tostay for two more days with his biological brother who is visiting him in Rome. Castel Gandolfo is the summer palace of Popes outside the vatican hills. Below are the pictures of the Pope’s visit.
