The World Youth Day 2011 participants who will be attending the event in Madrid, Spain come August 16 to 21 will have the chance to have a limited edition, collector’s item of Pope Benedict XVI’s biography drawn in Japanese manga Format. Jonathan Lin, the owner of comics
company Manga Hero initiated the project and will publish 300,000 limited copies only, to be distributed to lucky World Youth Day participants in churches, hotels, metro stops and other locations during the World Youth Day event. The comics is entitled “Habemus Papam” taken from the Latin Phrase which means “we have a Pope”, used to announce when a Pope has been elected by the College of Cardinals. The manga will feature drawings by Singapore-based professional artist Sean Lam and it will cover key moments in the 83-year-old German-born pontiff’s life and will be printed in both English and Spanish languages. Jonathan Lin who produced the “Papal Manga” ‘said that the chosen format to tell the story of the Pope is very timely, trendy and easy to read for both young and old readers. Now Manga fans ou there has now reasons in attending World Youth Day. Cool!

Very interesting idea of bringing Pope Benedict in manga, it will make him more popular but I don’t know if it is appropiate.
