Still on its planning stage, the Mosque that will be built two blocks away from the 9/11 ground zero became controversial as ever. The controversy stemmed from the intention of Cordoba House project, which calls for a 15-story community center that would include a performance-art center, gym, swimming pool, and a mosque. The Cordoba Initiative which spearheaded this plan is an independent, non-partisan and multi-national project that works with state and non-state actors to improve Muslim-West relations. But this plan has met widespread and severe criticisms from New Yorkers, bloggers and the most active, the National Republican Trust PAC which just this week has been controversial for its act of promoting awareness against the planned mosque. The said group has created an ad that go against the plan. But despite and in spite of the clamor of the Americans, authorities in New York city has not listened to the people’s plea.

Just recently, the NBC and CBS network has rejected the ad made by the NRTPAC in their respective air times because of the ad’s vague message. The ad says in Verbatm:

“To celebrate that murder of 3,000 Americans, they want to build a monstrous 13-story mosque at Ground Zero, this ground is sacred, where we weep, they rejoice … that mosque is a monument to their victory.”

For the network, they are confused of the message of the ad. They rejected its airing because it seems it is conveying an anti-muslim sentiment. But bloggers and New Yorkers think otherwise.

Below is the said Video of the ad posted on YouTube

So for you, do you think its really necessary for the Moslems to build a Mosque beside the Ground Zero?

My take is not against the Moslems or Islam per se. I have no reason to be against the Moslems since I find them very spiritual and dedicated to their religion. But building a mosque beside the ground zero is I think a crass and insensitive gesture. The attack was not made against Americans alone during the 9/11 disaster. It is clearly, according to Osama Bin Laden, a Jihad against the Christian World. Jihad is an Islamic declaration of holy war against other religion. Building a Mosque beside the ground zero will only bring more gap between the two religions. Instead of building a Mosque, why not just build a memorial, a plaque or a monument for the victims funded by the Moslem community?

What do you think?
