Does God ever loses faith in man despite our transgressions, failures and frailties? Of course, doctrinally speaking in a Catholic point of view, this is not true since the main reason why God created man, continues to bless him and forgive him and someday be with him is because of his faithfulness to him. But Hollywood thinks differently. Apparently in this new movie called Legion, God had already lost faith in man and given an edict to his angels to exterminate them in an apocalyptic proportion. But the Commander in Chief of the whole angelic host, Archangel Michael was against God’s plan, thus he was expelled from heaven and fallen from Grace. He then went to find the woman who bears the only hope of man, the alleged messiah, to save them from the forces of angelic powers.

This brings to mind the question, can angels fall from grace in our time? William D. Webber of Belief.Net has a very convincing answer to this question:
God created all the angels. God pronounced that all of his creation was good and holy, and this included the angels. But some of them fell from grace, becoming fallen angels, such as Satan and his followers. In the words of the Fourth Lateran Council of the Catholic Church, “Satan and the other devils are by nature spirits (angels). They were created by God, and so were originally good, but fell into sin of their own free will.” These fallen angels continue to sin, especially by tempting humans to sin.
But what about the good angels? Can good angels sin and fall from grace today? Hollywood loves this idea. In movies like “The Bishop’s Wife,” an angel is tempted to sin by falling in love with a mortal and choosing not to follow God’s holy will.
However, most Christian theologians agree that holy angels cannot sin. In 1 Timothy 5:21, the holy angels are called “elect.” This suggests that once they choose to remain loyal to God, instead of Satan, their decision is permanent. As they continue to serve God they are“confirmed in holiness.” Theologian Louis Berkhof explains it this way: “The angels evidentially received a special grace of perseverance, by which they were confirmed in their position.” Because of this grace, the good angels are incapable of sinning, and their delight is to love God wholeheartedly and to always serve him willingly.
Some angels, then, have rebelled against God and continue to sin, but other angels (the good ones) have never sinned and never will.
In other words, during the time of the Great rebellion of Lucifer, the fallen angels have already made their permanent and final decision to rebel against God. And the remaining angels led by Archangel Michael have already sealed their loyalty and faithfulness to God till eternity. Thus, there will be no more angels falling from grace, at least at the second coming of Christ.
But Hollywood writers always distort this truth. Many movies have already featured angels falling from grace such as “Constantine” in which the Archangel Gabriel rebelled and in “Prophecy” where the archangels also fell from grace.
And in 2010, another movie will twist the faith in making Archangel Michael hero of mankind and God as the apparent antagonist. Though this movie is only fiction, yet it is inevitable that ecclesiastical authorities may classify them as heretical since it directly contradicts the teaching of the church. Nevertheless, for all its worth, it is still a movie to watch out for, with its special effects and scenes of millions of angels descending from heaven, it is surely a film that can blow the mind of the moviegoers. Never mind the scenes wherein angels use Guns against monster and demons. Real angels doesn’t need material things to combat evil.
OTWOMD does not recommend this movie to those who take everything literally. These kind of movies have atheistic undertones (making God the antagonist) and heretical teachings, thus we advise moviegoers to be cautioned in interpreting the message of the movie as true in light of the revelations in the Bible inspired by the Holy Spirit.
God will never ever destroy man. It is man who often destroy himself…
