The images of thousands of Filipinos affected by the recent wrath of Typhoon Ondoy (International name ‘Ketsana’) is now seen globally over the internet as a public service advertisement. Catholic Charities of Australia, which I believe is a sister organization of Caritas Manila and other catholic charities all over the world, ran an ad over Catholic and news websites in Australia carrying the images of Filipinos during typhoon Ondoy. I was reading an article in an Australian website when I noticed on the corner of my eye, a set of familiar photos which I have seen hundreds of times and which I also featured in my other blog, FreeMan. Staring at the photos, I realized that the images are that of the current ondoy victims and below the ad is a by-line “Communities in Crisis Appeal: Samoa Tsunami, Indonesian Earthquake, South East Asian Typhoon.” The ad encourage readers to donate to the victims of the three major natural calamities that happened on the twilight of September and October 2009. The sizes of the ads are the Horizontal Leader Boards and the Vertical Tower ads.

I got curious and clicked the ad which took me to their official website. I got even more surprised when the Australian Caritas ran stories and photos about the floods of Ondoy in the Philippines.

Surfing for more, I even stumbled on their twitter widget which recently tweeted about giving donations to the Philippines.

Below also is their official youtube video for the Victims of Typhoon Ondoy and other natural Calamities in Indonesia and American Samoa
After the 2008 World Youth day in Sydney, Australian Catholics has been prominent and active in promoting the Catholic Faith in all spheres of human endeavors, starting from the proliferation of Australian Catholic Websites to the active involvement of the country in cause oriented communities. Australia is really reaping the fruits sowed by the faith of World Youth Day participants.
Catholic Charities are the most active and widely trusted non-government organization that acts as a bridge towards benefactors and victims.
In behalf of my fellow countrymen, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Caritas Australia, to the United Nation and to all the international community who are helping us to get us back on our feet again. We really felt that we are not alone. May God Bless you all.

In 2006, he jump-started his Catholic blogging a few years even before the Catholic Church realized the importance of utilizing social networks in spreading the Gospel. In 2007, in response to a realization of the growing need for Catholic Bloggers online, he officially launched his own self-hosted Catholic blog and called it "On The Wings Of My Dream" or simply OTWOMD which is a metaphor of his favorite psalm in the Bible, Psalm 63. Since then he has been blogging, and sometimes podcasting, for the Catholic Church using his enthusiasm in the New Media, his inclination on visual and digital arts, his passion for the written word and his love for the Catholic Church. Sa mga pictures na yan, oo nga’t nasalanta nga ang Pinas. Pero may action na ginagawa ang pictures at tinutulungan nila ang sarili nila.
Masarap tumulong sa mga tao na alam mong may hinahawakang pag-asa.
Thank you Caritas Australia.
Hello from Australia. Here in Wagga Wagga together with the local Philippino community we have sent 16 boxes of clothes. Several parishes helped collections and our youthgroup helped in sorting. We sent to the Missionaries of Charity and also to friends in Tatalon, Cainta, Bulacan and Antipolo. The secular media did not help much with fundraising, but Caritas did and we promoted in our parishes. We are inspired by your faith. Please, those who come to Australia, come as missionaries, bring us your Catholic devotion! Dont loose your faith when you come here, share it. God bless and ingat ka ;o)
