The Catholic Church in the Philippines led by Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales made an exemption and defied centuries-old tradition in Manila Cathedral for Corazon C. Aquino. The Cathedral has been the official church of the Archbishop of Manila and no one can hold wake inside it except former archbishops themeselves. Cory Aquino, even in her death continues to make headlines by becoming the first lay person to be welcomed by the Manila Cathedral in liue of her remains’ wake.
