Hollywood stars, Sports Athletes, Singers and even Authors (including a Filipina Actress) will join hand in hand in the Rosary Stars video in which they will lead the 4 mysteries of rosary complete with personal reflections about the Rosary in their lives. We can recall that John Paul II reiterated the need to pray the rosary every day in response to the message of Our Lady of Fatima, which is also reiterated by Benedict XVI for our time. The “Rosary Stars” is an ensemble cast production by the Rosary Theater Production, a branch of Fr. Peyton’s Family Rosary Crusade which he established in Hollywood for the purpose of promoting the Rosary in every family and homes worldwide. This is the same production that gave you the “Jesus and Mary Movies” which we often see on TV every holy week or Christmas. Watch the goosebump generating trailer of the video after the leap, its really amazing how the Faith is being proclaimed in an explosion of media and new media coverage.

The Rosary Stars Video will be launched on a premiere on February 7, 2009 and tickets are available here for request. The video incuudes the following stars, athletes, singers and celbrities according to the official website:

JOYFUL MYSTERIES

Here is the official trailer of the said video

Even stars bow down to pray the Rosary. How about you? Do you pray the most powerful prayer second to the Eucharistic Celebration?

Praying the Rosary is not just a catholic thing. It’s a BIBLE thing!

    One word: WOW!
Katulad ng sinabi ni Fr. Martin, this project is exciting. This surely is a very welcome powerful media tool to invite more people to pray the rosary, especially the youth.

Galing ano. Even I was astounded when I first saw the trailer. Then the “salve regina” was sung as a background. It was a perfect pitch tone. We use to sing that hymn every after compline and rosary. Its really amazing how the media is being used for Good and the Glory of God.

Pareho tayo. I cant express the feeling but whenever I pray the rosary I too cry out of Joy. Maybe because the Mother of God is really with us while we pray the rosary.

Ikaw una nasa isip ko mommy kengs when I was writing this. Actually I was touched when you told me that you are praying the rosary everyday. There are so many miracles mommy kengs when you pray the rosary. JPII once said that when we pray the Rosary, expect that the mother of God would always protect us from harm. And many times I have proven this. ayan kinikilabutan ako. Goosebumps again.

Mary is true to her words. Such a very powerful prayer. Such a very loving mother. No words to describe my awe.

I hope it would be available in Germany, as much as I am hoping that it will be available here. Pag nakita ko sa youtube mommy kengs, email kita agad.

BTW, I receive your email. and yes po, the prayer is extended. walang expiration ang prayer. Lets always pray for one another mommy kengs. Salamat na din sa mga kapwa ko Prayer warriors na parati nandyan na nagdadasal para sa atin. And I am happy it turned out good. Natuwa talaga ako when I read your email.

nakakahiya ako. wala akong kilala ni isa sa kanila. halatang mababa ang Hollywood IQ ko.
but this rosary surely will make an impact on US Catholics. alam mo, dito sa kabundukan ko eh kilala lang ang rosary as a fashion accessory. nakakalungkot…

Ako kahit wala dala rosary I pray with my fingers. Gawin mo kayang apostolate yan bro. Magsimula ka dyan sa mga tao dyan.

This is really great news, Bluep!
As perhaps common among those who pray the Rosary, it is keeping in mind and attention all throughout this beautiful prayer that i find most challenging. The Rosary has been an invitation to me to meditate and it’s okay for the mind to wander at times because there’s no such thing as a “monkey-free” meditation. it is indeed an invitation to meditation and not only a series of loud, repetitive vocal prayers because thanks to an Irish monk, it all began in a contemplative setting. here’s an outline on its historical development:

    Development of the Rosary

    Ireland 800-900 AD
Historians trace the origin of the Rosary back to ninth century Ireland. Today, as then, the 150 Psalms of the Bible, The Book of Psalms of King David, were an important form of monastic prayer. Monks and clergy recited or chanted the Psalms as a major source of hourly worship. People living near the monasteries realized the beauty of this devotion. But unable to read or memorize the lengthy Psalms, the people were unable to adapt this form of prayer for their use.

    First stage
An Irish monk suggested to the people around the monastery that they might pray a series of 150 Our Fathers in place of the 150 Psalms. At first, pebbles were carried in a pouch to count the 150 Our Fathers; later ropes with 150 or 50 (1/3 of 150) knots were used. Eventually string with 50 pieces of wood was used.

    Second stage
Next the Angelic Salutation (Lk 1:28) was added. St. Peter Damian (d. 1072) was the first to mention this form of prayer. Soon the Angelic Salutation replaced the 50 Our Fathers.

    Third stage
Some medieval theologians considered the 150 Psalms to be veiled mysteries about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. They began to compose “Psalters of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” – 150 praises in honor of Jesus. Soon psalters devoted to 150 praises of Mary were composed. When a psalter of 150 praises in Mary’s honor numbered 50 instead of 150, it was called a rosarium, or bouquet.

    c. 1365
The salutations were grouped into decades and an Our Father was put before each decade. This combined the Our Father and the Angelic Salutation for the first time.

    1409 AD
Special thoughts – meditations – were attached for each Hail Mary bead.

    1470 AD
The Dominican Order spread the form of the “new rosary” throughout Western Christendom.

    1400 – 1500 AD
The thoughts or meditations on the 150 Hail Mary beads took the form of woodcuts (graphic pictures). This exhausted the practice easily because of the volume of pictures. Picture rosaries were shortened to one picture/thought for each Our Father as it is today.

    1700’s
St. Louis de Montfort wrote the most common set of meditations for the rosary used today.

    Early 1900’s
A movement was begun attempting to return to a form of the medieval rosary – one thought for each Hail Mary.

    2000’s
The present devotion, differing from the medieval version, is composed almost entirely of direct quotations from the Bible. It is appropriately called “the Scriptural Rosary.” An explanation of this devotion can be obtained from The New Rosary in Scripture: Biblical Insights for Praying the 20 Mysteries, by Edward P. Sri, published by Charis Books.

    2002
In his Apostolic Letter, Rosarium Virginis Mariae (Rosary of the Virgin Mary), Pope John Paul II encouraged the use of the Rosary in prayer to Jesus. He proposed adding five Luminous Mysteries to the traditional pattern.

Thank you so much for this timeline of the Rosary. May nadagdag sa kaalaman ko.

I too sometimes wonder off when I meditate. minsan pa nga nakakatulog ako. Pero you know what, kahit tulog ako nanaginip ako na nagdadasal, half awake and half asleep kumbaga.

I thought it was St. Dominic who invented the Rosary? hindi pala.

By the way among the Hollywood stars above, Ali Landry is the only one familiar to me. I used to watch one show she hosted. I forgot the title…
