I don’t understand youtube users

youtube_logoRemember my post about the three Priest tenors who are making waves in the UK charts? Well Sony BMG just launched them on You Tube to promote them and their album. The Video has been viewed a thousand times and that the video was really clear and hi-def. So I embedded it on my blog together with my post and then when I previewed my entry, I was surprised that the video was not embeddable. I mean I am using a plugin for youtube, so the video is embedded but the actual clip wont play. So I removed the embed and just made a link going to the original source. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand the copyright infringement thing and stuff. But what I don’t understand is why do they prohibit a video to be spread and promoted on blogs and websites via embed where in fact the very purpose why they uploaded the video in the first place is to promote them so that people will watch them. Isn’t that odd and contradicting? What they don’t know is, the more a video is restricted, the more people will try to download it and upload it on their own youtube channels. Its because when people can’t access them, they will definitely steal them. Not necessarily moral, but its happening. Like in most cases of duplicated vids on you tube.

About the Catholic Blogger

, a.k.a. "bluepanjeet" has been writing in cyber space since 2005. In 2006, he jump-started his Catholic blogging a few years even before the Catholic Church realized the importance of utilizing social networks in spreading the Gospel. In 2007, in response to a realization of the growing need for Catholic Bloggers online, he officially launched his own self-hosted Catholic blog and called it "On The Wings Of My Dream" or simply OTWOMD which is a metaphor of his favorite psalm in the Bible, Psalm 63. Since then he has been blogging, and sometimes podcasting, for the Catholic Church using his enthusiasm in the New Media, his inclination on visual and digital arts, his passion for the written word and his love for the Catholic Church.
