OTWOMD’s Comment Policy
As part of the Bluepanjeet™ Pentalogs™ Blog Expansion Project, I am including this series of policies which will govern the use of OTWOMD™ and its brother blogs to outline the limits and boundaries of users and readers in order to make the blogging experience of each and everyone as pleasant as possible. I will start with the comment policies since it is I think the most appropriate at this time because lately my blog has been plagued with various comments that are not meant for human and descent eyes haha. So read the policies and take it by heart. You can copy them if you want for your blog or edit them as you please, but don’t forget to acknowledge the source.
Commenters
- Every human is allowed to leave their comments regardless of sex, age, religion, race, profession, culture, nationality or sexual orientation. Robots and machine generated comments are otherwise prohibited.
Commenter Details
- Every commenter is required to leave either their real name or handle (nickname) and a valid email address. Without these two, comments cannot be submitted as the system determines the completeness of the comment form. Website URL are optional but are therefore encouraged by the blog owner especially when commenting for the first time, in order for your comments to be approved and published. When the Commenter is not a blogger, he or she is therefore encouraged to at least leave the URL of his or her social networking account for reasons stated on “editing and deletion“
Moderation
- Comments on OTWOMD is not moderated on users who have previously approved comments or on regular readers of the blog. Comments are only moderated by the system on users who leave comments for the first time, whose comments are filtered as spam, whose IP address and email address is different from the previous comments, and comments that are questionable and disturbing in nature.
- Comment moderation on all users may be enabled without prior notice to the readers and commenters in necessary and emergency situations
Pickbacks and Tracbacks
- Pingbacks and trackbacks are enabled on OTWOMD, to and from the blog, but are sometimes held for modeartion by the system when it is deemed to be first time and when it is filtered as spam.
Editing and Deletion
Comments in OTWOMD are edited and deleted without prior notice to the commenter only on instances when the comments:
- are hateful, discriminating, offending, lewd, promotes fight and division, abusive, off-topic, using excessive foul language, includes ad hominem attacks, manipulative and condescending.
- includes spams or any human comments that promotes other websites that are commercial in nature.
- mentions names and personal details of the subject on the post or any individual in particular, which is intended to either back bit, humiliate, betray, or drag onto issues that are currently discussed or not even mentioned on the post
- have questionable and ambiguous identities, posing as someone else or using the name and email address of other people, celebrities, journalists or politicians
- have email address that are unverifiable, fictitious or non existent
- includes emails that are traceable with several social networking accounts and the commenter posed as an anonymous commenter. The blog owner has the right to include the URL of the commenter’s social networking account on the website/url field, especially when the commenter engage in a debate or argument, so that fair and equal footing between commenters and bloggers will be observed and not hide anonymously.
- includes anonymous names and identities
Spam Comments
- Spam comments are automatically deleted, whether human or machine borne. Even trackbacks and pickbacks from splogging sites are deleted.
Blocking
- Commenters are blocked and are disabled to comment when they repeatedly pose a threat to other bloggers, users and readers and when their comments includes the conditions mentioned on “editing and deletion“. Blocking can be done by just simply blocking the user to comment or by entirely blocking him from accessing the whole blog. The blog owner has the right to determine who will be blocked.
Links
- Links and url are only permitted on comments area when they are relevant to the post or to the discussion and purpose of the commenter, bloggers and users in general. Allowed number of Url posting and inclusions in post can vary depending on the commenter’s discretion. The system filters comments when they contain as many as 2 links and considers them as spam, but will be retrieved by the owner depending on the relevancy of the links to the discussion or post
Privacy
- IP addresses, email addresses, real names and locations of commenters cannot be given to anyone either by own volition of the blog author or upon request by entities or individual, except for instances when these details are necessary to verify the identity of other commenters that pose a threat on other blogs (situations like death threats, hacking and other forms of computer criminal and deviant tendencies) or required by any judicial order.

About the Catholic Blogger
Romuald Matthieson, a.k.a. "bluepanjeet" has been writing in cyber space since 2005. In 2006, he jump-started his Catholic blogging a few years even before the Catholic Church realized the importance of utilizing social networks in spreading the Gospel. In 2007, in response to a realization of the growing need for Catholic Bloggers online, he officially launched his own self-hosted Catholic blog and called it "On The Wings Of My Dream" or simply OTWOMD which is a metaphor of his favorite psalm in the Bible, Psalm 63. Since then he has been blogging, and sometimes podcasting, for the Catholic Church using his enthusiasm in the New Media, his inclination on visual and digital arts, his passion for the written word and his love for the Catholic Church.
