There are times when people are normally irked instead of being charmed on the way the government handles issues. The truth is, there is nothing worse than the anger of the people scorned by their own government. Sometimes when the heat rises, its not enough to get out of the kitchen. Its actually more relieving to stay inside and fight fire with fire until the heat that once was organic becomes volcanic. When I write about a certain topic, especially in my Acid Rub series, I don’t write just for the sake of satire or scorn. I write because I want to point out something what other’s failed to contemplate. Here is OTWOMD’s 10 Most Scornful post of 2008.
10. Ha-Ha-Ha – I was so tired, exhausted and pissed with what is happening in our country that I just resorted into boisterous laughter even to the point of insanity.
9. Bullies – When Malacanang declared that Makati was a no fly zone for the media during the rally, they also resorted to diversionary tactics by concocting a false bomb alert in PUP Sta. Mesa Campus to halt the speaking engagement of Jun Lozada that day.
8. Atchara Na - Don’t you hate it when the publicist and advisers of the President turn the highest position on land into something cheap, manipulative and overbearing, 4 times in a row?
7. Taratitat – Annoying Lorelei Fajardo became one of my subject in Acid Rub when she tries to reason and defend the President just for the sake of talking, even without the effort of thinking straight and applying logic. This woman really needs a clue or two.
6. Good Riddance Entrecard – Entrecard is an exemption to the rule. Its not about Philippine Politics, but its definitely about Internet Politics wherein they make stupid laws, implement them, and charge the people with it without prior notice. A classic case of internet stupidity.
5. IQ Your Honor – I had a good time writing this since I had the chance to gather and include in one post, the countries most insane, absurd and illogical officials of the Philippine Government at the height of the NBN-ZTE controversy.
4. Prayer for the Damned II – When Sec. Dureza blurted his infamous prayer for the President, all blogs turned to him for scorn, this is one of them.
3. Prayer for the Damned I - The first time I wrote about priests of Pampanga in full satire here in OTWOMD when they brought more confusion to the people instead of assurance and clarity of the CBCP’s stand.
2. Bingo – When former Comelec Commisioner, and NBN-ZTE deal broker, Benjamin Abalos sourgraped in front of the Media regarding the rising popularity of Jun Lozada, he also inadvertently promoted his special recipe of “Bur-Jher” haha.
1. Behold the Faces of Evil – When evil took a new form in the person of the henchmen of Malacanang, all hell broke lose in all streets of the country.
Of all the styles of writing that I like best, it is satire that really gets me excited every time I hit my keyboard and spew flames on my subjects. That’s why this year, Acid Rub Series will be transferring to a new home, still full of scorn, spite, satire and mockery of everything nasty that is happening in our country–and yes, even in the blogosphere! Abangan…
