anyway, I’m also an indigenous person from Norhtern Luzon and a very staunch advocate for IP rights ( which includes the right to cultural integrity and against discrimination)

all i can say for now is that the aetas are “purer” than the beautiful and “immaculate” tracy borres. They were able to maintain many of their traditional cultures despite a history of colonization of our country. (if you will ask Tracy Borres or many other Catholics, Christians, Tagalogs, Ilokanos and Visayas if they have cultures that they will trace since time immemorial, they will find this very difficult to answer unlike the aetas and other indigenous peoples… so what’s “purer”) I won’t say that the Aetas are as “pure” as they were centuries ago but the persistence of their culture and lifeways are a testament to their relative “pureness”.

And once and for all, let’s stop discriminating indigenous peoples because they are also human beings and citizens who deserve a rightful “space” in this world. We must also stop discriminating people because of their race, sex/gender, economic standing…

My learning is the most oppressed persons (in the Philippines at least) is a young/old, woman/gay/lesbian, Aeta/Igorot/Mangyan/Lumad peasant
