And you thought we Filipinos are the only ones keenly observing the US Presidential elections? Well you’ll be surprised because around the world, Americans are celebrating their liberty and freedom to choose their next President wherever they are in the globe. Hours before the final results are in, AFP, Reuters, Getty and AP captured all over the world the sights, scenes and sounds of the revelry and joy of American citizens as they vote for their own bet on the Presidency across the Atlantic and pacific, away from their homeland. seeing the pictures, I can’t seem to help my admiration over the democracy that US Citizens are having. I am grateful (at least) for the democracy that the Americans gave us during their short colonization of our country. I am only resentful that we did not cherish and improved that democracy given to us. Notice the difference between their elections from ours.

If only the Philippine election would have be like the US Elections, meaning, no killing, no political bitterness, no political dynasties, no vote buying, no peddling, no cheating, no lies, no annoying posters, no banners, just plain ol’ expression of democracy in a bilateral party election, then everyone in the Philippines would go out and vote. May magbago kaya sa 2010 Philippine election? Ipapauputol ko daliri ko pag meron!!!
Whoever wins, may it be Obama or McCain, Godbless America, the Guardian of Democracy all over the world.
