I miss the old Christmas of my childhood wherein things were simple. There were no cell phones, no computers, no malls and high powered video games that would distract us back then. All we had is our family together eating on one table during the Noche Buena feast and a sock hanging on our bedroom wall, waiting for Santa?s gift the next morning. We had toys, but they serve as a reminder of how great and joyful Christmas can be.
Today?s Christmas is so complicated that everyone seems to be celebrating on the material side of it rather than the meaning and purpose itself. We are so engrossed with material things that today?s Christmas is seen only as ?Christmas for Children?, ?Shopping?, ?Gifts?, ?Parties? and ?Decorations?. Christmas is more than that.
That is why OTWOMD, in celebration of its first Christmas online, chose a theme that best convey the message: ?Christmas is not only for children, but to all who keep their childhood memories alive?. This whole Christmas season, starting this very first Sunday of Advent, OTWOMD?s theme will be ?THE INNOCENCE OF CHRISTMAS: SOMEWHERE IN MY MEMORY?
Somewhere in our memories, there is this little corner in our heart that always reminds us of the joy of Christmas during our childhood. This theme encourages everyone to reminisce their childhood memories of Christmas and somehow keep them alive by celebrating Christmas in the spirit of our own ?Child Within?
In addition, starting today until the Feast of the Three Kings, OTWOMD will only post joyful, positive and funny (if not satirical) entries to coincide and celebrate with the holidays. I don’t want to spoil your Christmas with the endless political issues of our country so I will just deal with it in my own humor and satire to lessen the blow.
And in lieu of this, I am also launching two Christmas memes for this season of joy:
The 1st Christmas Tree Blog Parade 2007
A Christmas tree, Yule tree or Tannenbaum (German: fir tree) is one of the most popular traditions associated with the celebration of Christmas. It is normally an evergreen coniferous tree that is brought into a home or used in the open, and is decorated with Christmas lights and colorful ornaments during the days around Christmas. An angel or star is often placed at the top of the tree, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity story (wiki).

thanks bpj for tagging me for this christmas meme! i remember the picture of the first tree coz we i have a pic there with the kids. that big tree was used to be at the Federation Square in melbourne, australia but is now located at the City Square according to my hubby. oh, my those memories!

My parents raised their children to not be materialistic, so our Christmases were always simple/not extravagant in terms of gift-giving, etc. Faith, family, fun… and lots of FOOD!

haha oo nga, buti na lang kakaunti pa ang inaanak ko, walang kumuha sakin noon kasi I was in the seminary, bawal sa amin ang mag-inaanak… pagkatapos ng formation saka pa pwede kaya madaming lumampas na opportunity to have Godchildren. I think 30+ news and invitation nakarating sa akin noon to be the Godfather of their children pero I turned them down kasi nga bawal pa sa amin. kung nagkataon naku magtatago din ako this christmas haha

Isn’t it wonderful if you had those kind of Christmases. Kami din we were raised as simple children. Basta mahalaga sa amin ay we are together in christmas. Last year was the first ever Christmas that we were not together and It was so lonely. I did not put up any Decorations of whatsoever because I was alone here. Ngayon my mom and dad are here again for Christmas and I’m really excited because we will have again a family Christmas.
Yung isang sister ko naman ang wala at nasa US pero okay lang it’s because she has her own family now and we will celebrate the Noche buena on via webcam hehe… I will surely miss my nephews in the states (sigh) How we wish we could all be together again. just like in 2005.
anyhow, Fruity if you want to join this meme, I willbe glad to update you on the link, I was just hesitant to tag you because I was not sure if you are apt for doing memes. pero it will be my pleasure if you would join.

ano ka buh! kung ano naman ang type ko na meme dun mo ako inistepwera..ilagay mo ako sa christmas tree tag, daliiii!
though wala pa kaming tree (korni Holland eh, after the 5th pa traditionally nag put up ng tree, kainis!) I love love our tree, it may not be the best around but truly gives our home and little family that Christmas feeling.

Hahaha, hay salamat ate thess nag prisinta ka. actually kaya ko to naiispan aside from spreading the christmas spirit eh hindi ako makapagblog ng mahaba. ayoko naman magsulat ng basta lang dahil kakahiya sa ibang readers. so eto na muna habang i’m juglling and struggling sa review ko.
Sensya na di kita isinlali noiong una nahihiya na ako. hahaha baka masawa kasi kayo sa meme. pero ilalagay kita kapatid. salamat sa positive response mo. YUng kasing mga tinag ko mga palaging nagpapasa sa akin ng tag eh ginantihan ko hahaha.

prayers prayers ate ha. sama mo ako sa intention mo sa simbang Gabi… mali hindi lang pala ako, lahat ng mageexam sa December 27, 27, 28, 29 and 30 ng december. di ko sila kilala pero I want them also to pass because it’s not really easy to pay hundreds of dollars just to take this exam. salamat talaga from the bottom of my heart.

narelieve anxiety ko. I’m focusing so much on the thought that the exam is hard while lahat naman talaga ng exam ay mahirap. Thank you for reminding me. I sighed in relief. I was carried away because some of the nurses are really looking for an easy exam. This will be a challenge for me and for us to prove our worth. What’s the need of an easy exam if you can’t even prove your worth diba? thank you so much. Mwahhhhhh! nakahinga ako. sometimes talaga kailangan iba pa magsabi sayo para mo maabsorb. Kapatid, tip (from someone who’s been there and done that..i mean 2nd take mwahaha!) wag mo iisipin na mag second take ka..laban lang! Kung sa practical side ng exam ay mataas ang level mo, concentrate on the other cat. like theory..etc. mali ko kasi nag concentrate ako sa srength ko during the first take, right after I took the one I was weak in, naku I cried me a river na, d ko na malunok lunch ko during the exam break!
