I have read many blogs which are more worthy reads than some of these crap and my blogroll is a testimony to that. the mere fact that I linked someone’s blog in my blogroll regardless if they link me back, just means that I love the contents of these blogs. sometimes it really gets on my nerves to hear bloggers say “link exchange”. deadma lang. nung una nakikisakay ako kasi akala ko kaya naglilink dahil gusto ang blog ko yun pla gagamitin lang ako sa pampadami ng authority nila. kaya whenever someone ask that crazy line, I change the topic hence I’ll become cold and unyielding hehehe. para bang bato. hehe

alam mo bilib ako dyan kay Ironnie. ang gaganda ng blog na nahahanap nyan. most bloggers i befriended ay mga fellow bloggers nya. I visited tutubi and yours and I love the contents. seriously. Ronnie definitely has a good taste when it comes to quality blogs.

I’m not blogging at the moment, but I had to just tell you of an irony of why I am here just now…

I use Technorati as a ‘feed’ from many of the blogs I like, and in going there today to have a look what my blogging friends were up to, I clicked on my ‘authority’ accidentally, instead of logging in. There I saw you’d got a link to me, and I remembered your blog as one that I enjoyed visiting in the Blogblast for Peace.

I followed the link back here, and read this entry… and wholeheartedly agreed with what you said about the false linking (which, on the whole, I’ve managed to avoid)… I’ve seen other blogs with a low readership shoot up in the so-called popularity charts, when reality they still have the same visitors. It doesn’t affect the way I enjoy what they say, so it doesn’t bother me that others do it. However, I feel that the friends I’ve made along the way are so wonderful that I have no need to look like I’m popular… that anyone visits is lovely. That the folks who visit provide me with company, intellectual stimulation, humour and hugs is all I could wish for.

I love your prayer. I’m not religious, but I am spiritual, and believe that those things you ask for will come to you. Even those things you don’t realise you ask for. It may not always be what you think you wish for, but in your words here, you show that you are willing to be open… and that is such a big thing in itself.

I have now linked you… in what I see as a genuine way… because I respect the things you say, and because I’d like to return.

Oh, and I agree with everyone regarding WTF…..why in the world would they do that? Just as an attention getter? It seems so wrong to me too. I never visit that page…mostly junk there anyway.

The first thing that came into my mind when I was writing my post was that many bloggers would definitely criticize me for my stance which I am 100% ready to hold my ground.

about your first question: No it’s not that. I’m very satisfied with the number of readers I have. though I also want to increase the number of my readers just like anyone else in order to help others (my own apostolate here) and not for any other reason, but I want to attain readership in the natural way, that is promoting my own blog by joining other blog groups, going to other blogs and commenting and of course by means of other the legal stuff. What I’m upset about myself is that, these viral tags which increased my page rank is some kind of a cheat for me. Other people increase their rank because of the people reading their stuff. while mine, I increased my page rank just because I joined the viral train. It’s like I’m just kidding myself and deceiving myself into believing that my blog’s page rank increased due to popularity and readership where in fact there are only a handful of readers. It’s like a ranking short cut. I hope you get where I am going at.

about the ads: no, its not also that. I have no guilt feelings about the ad. I chose not to put ads on my blog because the purpose of this blog is precisely personal, apostolic and therpeutic as what I have mentioned above. Ads are good, for some blogs that are economic in nature. but this blog is a dream come true. and I don’t want to put money on my dream. This server of mine is free and with no charge of whatsoever. Some bloggers who helped me in putting up this blog also gave their time for free. so it is only logical to operate my blog as free. gaining profit from it would be unfair to my server because they never placed any ads of whatsoever in my blog for their own benefit. so there is really no outweighing guilt about the ads. there is no financial guilt either.

on my stance on quality vs. quantity: I think there is no such thing as quality of readership because I cannot choose people whom I want to read my stuff. people have different levels of understanding and intellect, and to qualify them is I think unfair. No matter how poor or how excellent their comprehension and intellects are, it will still boil down on the fact that they are readers. It will be the Holy Spirit who will do the explaining for them not me. Now the quantity is what matters most. the more people who read your stuff, the more you are able to reach hearts and minds. and in my case, reaching other people via my blog is already an apostolate in itself. We do not know how many people are touched by our entries and posts. 95% of our visitors are lurkers and surfers. and these lurkers just go to our blogs to have a read of our stuff, and yet we do not know how they were able to relate with our posts. Until they cannot anymore contain the gratitude they have for you, one by one they will send you message of thanksgiving and admiration. that is why I count even my lurkers as readers in my blog. as per experience, many of these lurkers are afraid to voice out their opinions and indentities because of different factors, personal among others. That is why it is okay if only few people comment on your blog. because many are still reading it. Comments are not the guage of a blog’s readership. though it is a definitive proof. but I still believe that the quality of readership belongs to the people who actually reads your blog. the quantity is the only thing that you can have as a proof. I have a statistics host. and most of these lurkers whom I lmarked (via their IP Addresses) lurks in my blog 1 hour minimum and 5 hours maximum, with the detailed path of their individual page clicks/hits. that is why I know that eventhough they are not letting their presence felt, they are still there, supporting you and reading your stuff without you knowing it. That’s why even lurkers are a family to me.
