Survivor Philippines (Wk 3, Ep. 10-15): Adios Gigit!

466

Last Friday (October 3), Survivor Philippines has already concluded its 3rd Tribal council with the elimination of Gigit (the 53 year old web designer). Again another unanimous vote this time from the Jarakay tribe who lost for the first time in the immunity challenge against the Naak tribe. It was painful for the Jarakay tribe since on the eve of the elimination, John was taken to the hospital because of electrolyte imbalance. The Potassium level of John depleted due to the fact that for days they have been eating salted viands from the sea causing his Sodium levels to rise. When sodium levels begin to increase in the body, Potassium is automatically excreted from the system thus leaving sodium ions on his circulation.

Last week’s highlights are as follows:

Monday - Jarakay tribe once again defeated the Naak tribe in the coconut basketball challenge. It was not just an ordinary basketball because members of the opposing camp have to held on to the basket which gets heavier every time the other tribe shoots the hoop. With the loosing grip of Kiko, Cris and Kaye, Naak lost the game and did not bag the reward for that challenge which is a delicious catch of fish.

Tuesday - Jarakay tribe enjoyed their feast and the luxury items given to them by the SP staff. Meanwhile on the Naak Camp, a baby reticulated python lost his way into the tribe’s sleeping tent. Kiko caught the python and released it the next morning. While Jarakay celebrates their 5th win, alliances are now beginning to form. Charise (Makati Sales Exec) tied an alliance with Nikki, Patani and Nina and somehow Marlon has managed to serve as a double agent between two alliances. Jace and John was planning to eliminate Nina but Gigit however insisted that Nina stay since the tribe still needs Nina.

Wednesday - Immunity challenge day for the two tribes. Naak won the game fair and square when they were able to score 5 consecutive points in the eating contest. The delicacies that were offered by the host for them to consume are made of wild insects worms and crawlers indigenous to Island such as coconut worms, millipedes, tarantulas, geckos, house lizards, chameleon and the poisonous scorpion. Surprisingly, JC did not threw up. Very impressive indeed since he showed the Jarakay tribe that his system has already adapted the life in the Island. Naak took home the Immunity Idol for the first time and winning also for the very first time after 5 consecutive loses.

Thursday - John was taken to the Hospital because of Electrolyte imbalance. In the game rules, if one survivor did not make it to the camp within 24 hours, he will forfeit his chance to play in the remaining days. In the Absence of John, the Jarakay tribe’s alliances are now beginning to fall and form at the same time. Jace and Veronica’s alliance was weakend by the absence of John while Marlon took the advantage and insisted the four women (except vern) to form their own alliance. The General atmosphere in the Jarakay Camp was in sharp contrast of the Naak’s wherein for the first time in the game, they did not worry about who they are going to vote out.

Friday - With the absence of John, and their loss in the immunity challenge, the Jarakay tribe has also acquired a third blow on their group when their cooking pot broke. But the melancholy was swiftly replaced with joy when out of nowhere, John emerged again on the camp. But the excitement was not on the camp site itself but on the tribal council that evening wherein all of them were asked one by one to step out of the council so each one can say their piece about the tribesmates. In an unexpected turn, Gigit was eliminated. Ironically, the one who Gigit fought to stay in the tribe was also the same person who voted him out, Nina. Just shows that in the SP, there is no permanent friend or ally, just permanent interest to survive.

Monday’s episode (October 6) will highlight another twist on the game when a second member of the Jarakay tribe will be surprisingly eliminated. The episodes are getting better and better each week.
