Survivor Philippines Episode 10: Emerson is out of the Game!

461

This has got to be the most emotionally fired tribal council episode so far, for both the men and women cried all the away to the tribal council. I was on the 10th floor penthouse bar of the Startowers when I watched this episode. I asked my friends if we could meet there since it is the only bar on friday night that would have a live TV showcasing the Survivor Philippines. Though the acoustic band was singing lovely at the background, I couldn’t hear anything except the TV show. Though I was 4 meters away from the tube, I can still decipher what the show was talking about and then on the last segment, after the last gap, the expected happened, Emerson was voted out as the second castaway to be booted out of the game.

After the heated argument between Vhev and Emerson, on thursday night episode, the Naak tribe was silent the whole day. Silent in a sense that there was no alliance being formed or there was no clandestince conversation happening on deciding who to vote out. It was only Emerson who bluntly told Cris that he is planning to vote out Vhev using his twisted rationale that the poor girl was still young and will still have a bright future. Uknown to Emerson, the impending doom was above him for it seems in the silence of his tribe mates comes a decision that will totally shift the course of his journey on the game. It was obvious that Naak was unwillingly rooting for Emerson because they have no choice.

Meanwhile, before the Naak marched on the tribal council, Zita embraced Vhev so hard that the two began to cry. Zita said that “before she dies, she wanted to give her children education because his husband doesn’t support him”. This for me was the most powerful words I have ever heard in the series so far. You can see that the woman was really doing her best on the tribe just so she can win the coveted 3 million pesos, not for anything else but for her children. Such a candid tear jerker and sincere yearning from an ordinary woman. This is the reason why I wanted Zita to win. Not because of her status, but because Zita’s performance as a tribe member is flawless, motherly and efficient: she cooks, she hunts, she lit the fire and she doesn’t back stab. She has no alliance and she treats everyone with respect and equality. And who says universities and ivy league schools can bring out the best in a person? The ordinary labandera has gained my respect. I just hope her tribes mates would not vote her out prematurely because if they do, like one commenter told the forum, I would write to wish ko lang because this woman does not only deserve the 3 million pesos, because she also epitomizes the word “survivor”.

But the night before the tribal council, Jarakay had light moments with Patani on center stage. Haha I was so laughing at the talent of this girl because she really have the confidence to make it on screen. Even her tribemates in Jarakay has applauded her sincerity when it comes to exposure. Nice one Patani.

On the tribal council, JC, Cris and the rest began to cry because they didn’t expect that the impact of the game would be that hard on them. JC was particularly hurt of the fact that John changed his attitude towards him wherein at the beginning of the series, they were buddies.

The whole scenario was emotionally fired. When Zita wrote Kaye as the one she voted off, the latter clung to Kaye and cried. Maybe because in her own judgment, Emerson was more productive than kaye. But the tribe decided that Emerson should go because even though he is a big help for the tribe when it comes to domestic chores, his manipulation gives otherwise.

The tribe has spoken, Emerson was the official second castaway to be voted out from the council.

in his parting words, he still managed to manipulate the viewers by telling them not to judge him for his action because its really different when you are in the game yourself. But like what Rob told Kaye the noon before the tribal council, “Its too late a hero”.

He could have stayed longer if he was just honest and true to himself. Obviously, the divide and conquer strategy did not work. His elimination is the wisest decision that the tribe have ever done so far.

another week, another set of challenges.
