Why leaving a love one home alone is not good

197

I had a friend in HS whose dad died of heart attack. His father’s death was so ironic since his corpse was found at the kitchen area, four hours after the attack. So it was virtually impossible to save him since no one was at home for he was home alone. My friend and her sisters were at school. And her mom was just at an out of town errand. Since then I developed this fear of my family being left alone like that. This is the reason why I always make sure that my parents are not alone at home. It is so hard to lose someone knowing that you could have been at their side when they need you.

But then again as the computer age dawned on man, various improvements were made to help other cope up with this kind of situation. The US have created a nationwide 911 hotline help that manages to send rescue operations in time. Then came when hospitals put push-button alerts on patient’s bedside in cases when patient is in an emergency situation. Then at the beginning of the 90’s, hospital beds and equipments were centralized to a core alert, prompting the station to hurry in a specific room when vital signs and patient conditions begins to drop. These ideas that were turned into improvements saved many lives. And now comes two new gadgets which I stumbled upon that actually has the same principle.

The first one is the called the “Fall alert detector” that warns emergency personnel if a patient has fallen and can’t even push a button to alert them. This comes in handy for heart-attack prone patients. While the other one is “GPS tracking bracelet” with two way speaker phone which patients can use it as a cell phone and can call for help. Applicable also to Alzheimer’s patients who often gets lost. These Medical Alert Gadgets can save lives and extend the years of spending time with them.
