After Madrid, the best place to visit is Portugal. Not only is Portugal the home of the apparition of the Virgin Mary of Fatima, but it is also the place where Lisbon is Located. Lisbon (Portuguese: Lisboa) is the capital and largest city in Portugal which is home to almost 2.8 million Portuguese. Lisbon is so popular and grand that it is considered by European countries as the most important financial and economic center of the Iberian Peninsula. Because of this, Lisbon is in truth the wealthiest region in Portugal, surpassing even the GDP of the European Union with its 45% share of the total Portuguese GDP. Lisbon is not only a Financial Mecca but also a popular tourist destination.
It boasts of its cultural diverse influences starting from the Megaliths, Dolmens and Menhirs up to the up to the Roman Empire. Some of the sights you can see in Lisbon is the Rossio Lisboa Portuguese Square where in Romanesque columns dominate the building facing the pavement and a breath taking obelisk like centerpiece at the patio. Interesting to see also is the Vasco De Gama Tower named after the Portuguese Conquistador of Asia, Vasco de Gama who is part of the Portuguese expedition.
