A foretaste of Spain

154

And because World Youth Day in 2011 will be held in Spain, so I thought I give you a foretaste of what Spain has to offer to pilgrims and tourists alike. So let us start with their beaches. Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands of the coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean. Though it is an autonomous region, Tenerife is also administered by Spain. It boasts an average of a whopping 9 Million tourists per year and hosts some of the best beaches on the Planet. Its is famous for the tenerife holidays referring to vacations held in the chains of beaches in its coast. Tenerife is so beautiful and tourist friendly that one can?t resist enumerating some of the best beaches in the region.

Let?s start with Puerto de la Cruz. Puerto de la Cruz (literally meaning ?Port of Crosses? or Crossport) is located in the north coast of Tenerife in the Orotava Valley. This northern beach is most popular during winter and Christmas season because of its mild climate. Most northern Europeans choose to spend their cheap holidays here. Puerto de la Cruz is one of the oldest resort in Tenerife and has been known for accommodating tourists since the 19th century. It?s black sands and salt water pools and fountains is an ideal place for spa enthusiasts.

Another famous beach in Tenerife is the Puerto de Santiago. Puerto de Santiago which is located in the western coast of the Island is known for its peaceful ambiance and calm surrounding. Originally known as a fishing village, Puerto de Santiago has bloomed overnight into an internationally renowned beach destination with great hotel accommodations, various restaurants and stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Different water sports are available in the beach and a diving school for scuba diving enthusiasts.

One of the most popular beaches for the young and young professionals is the Playa de las Americas situated on the Southwest coast of the Tenerife. One of its features is its imported sand from the Sahara desert, which compliments its ambiance and breath taking scenery. It can be a home for those who are tan-obsessed and can bathe themselves forever in its warm sunshine. It also boasts a variance of water activities catered for the young such as jet skiing, wind surfing and Para-gliding.

So if you are planning your holidays in tenerife or attending the World Youth Day 2011, make it sure to check all their beaches and destinations prior to your departure because they can add great experiences to your journey.
