Por favor que tirar de diccionario… (please throw that dictionary)

131

When I was in the seminary, I was the only one who came from our province. Most of my brother seminarians were from far provinces that have their own dialects. My best buddy Edward came from Isabela who knew the Ibanag language. While Kaba, my other bud was very fluent in Pangasinense, Cesar however was a native of Zambales so he knew by heart the Ilocano dialect and so as my other brothers from the southern part of the country. Whenever they speak their dialects, I always feel paranoid and out of place because I cannot understand what they were saying. I swear it’s like a legion of evil spirits have just overshadowed them when ever they talk Ibanag, Pangasinense or Ilokano. I almost call our pet parrots inside the chapel to interpret those darn languages for me.

Point is, it’s so hard to communicate with other people when you don’t even know their language. Sometimes English speaking people even experience great disadvantages, having knowing only English as their mode of instruction or communication. This is very obvious specially when traveling. English speaking tourists are sometimes forced to learn other languages just so they can transact with hotels and other foreign travel agencies. That is why many of you might be thinking that if you travel to a certain country, let say, Spain for instance, you will have to learn Spanish before even getting there. Heck no.

Destinia, a primary online Spanish travel agency that book trips, tours and travels anywhere in Spain, is now open to English speaking clients. Destinia introduces in English market. Si mi Amigo, you can now throw your diccionario and tesauro at the Rio Sella because you won’t be needing them anymore. Destinia opens its door to English speaking travelers and tourist.
