Carabao English
By bluepanjeet on Jun 16, 2008 in Analyze This

I don’t know if you have already read or heard about this joke on Carabao english, but its been circulating throughout the web for sometime now. Actually I received this via email from a batchmate in one of our yahoogroups. The letter was in it self funny since it consists of so many grammatical and spelling errors from start to finish. You know naman Pinoy, we often make fun of our mistakes and ridicule others for their flaws. But you know what? reading the letter over and over again made me realize that its not bad after all. Why? first the person who wrote it at least had the guts to tell the recipient how she felt no matter how dumb her thoughts maybe. second, who in the world laughs at their fellow people for not being good in english? — its us… but come to think of it, at least the writer tried to communicate as hard as she can because others just try to look ike cold plastics when confronted by truth. Look at Japan, Germany, France and other countries which are not intimidated by the English language yet has the most stable economies in the world. Is it us or just us? That intelligence can be equated to the utilization of English? heck I have seen, heard and read so many people who are fluent in english yet their common sense actually leak out from their nostrils. The irony is , if those people who are laughing with the content of the letter are asked to write a similar essay, can they guarantee us that their letter will not have any grammatical errors so to speak? Hehe I doubt it…
This is the content of the email that I received. I have to retype it since I received a copy from a scanned shot from of an unknown newspaper.
TO WHOEVER GETS TO UNDERSTAND THIS LETTER, CONGRATULATIONS!!..:)
The following is a letter found at a certain bar in Manila and has been preserved in its original, unedited form. Enjoy reading and you may try direct translation in Tagalog. Pls read with feelings…

To Marjie,
I am not surprise or wander why Dennis leave you. Why? What reason you can think about but you’re very fat body. I thought before that Dennis only use me to his toy but sooner and later I’m realize that he really can’t not beared or stomached to be with you anymore because at first, Dennis say he could not stand you’re habit of making pakialam all his walks [lakad] and always calling to their house what he go home or this
or that.
And then he say he get ashame to met iether in school or in his family and then asking you to exercise you’re very very, very fat body. But you hate it. Thoughth your the most preetiest girls he knows about. What do you think you are “Beautiful Girl” of Jose Marie Chan?
Even you are beautiful face (to your think) you do not have the right to called me whatsoever or else different name one time or the other for the real purposed to insults my personality because I’m never call you names iether in the front of Dennis or in the backs of Dennis, but if you start already to calling me different name, I don’t have any other choice but to call you other different name to. Like you are a PIG, FAT, OBESSED, OVERWIGHT, AND UGLY SHAPE girl. Shame to you’re body that is to
a BUDING.
You can’t not blame Dennis for exchanging you to me because I am the more sexier than you when you look to us in the mirror.
I’m repeat again that you are like Ike Lozada when she is a girl.
Love,
The Sexiest Girl of D.M.
P.S. You say that I’m the bad breathe but who is Dennis want to kissed. Me or you? You or me? And the final is me. There you go.

Is this the recent crowned Ms Philippines Janina? “Confidence”.
Funny but, well I dislike Pinoys who laughed at someone’s way of talking, writing in English. In HK, my way of talking English to my Chinese colleague is so BAROK para lang maintindihan. Even my manager doesn’t speak much English. Other races are proud of their own language so they don’t really care what people think.
Pero if you are a Pinoy, kailangan marunong mag English, 98% of our population speaks/write English so it’s a natural reactions that most of us laugh at this Carabao English. Minsan naman, if you really good at talking/writing English, some people just feel jealous or nakaka-asiwa to mingle with them. Even sa blogging madami… your blog will be more popular, we easily judge others to the way they speak, or how they dress or how they behave.
Tuloy wala akong sense. Shet!
