My Summer 2008 (part 2): My own underdog

My summer of 2008 wouldn’t be the same without playing with my dogs. Aside from tigers, eagles and dolphins which I love in the animal world, dogs are the closest animals to my heart among the domesticated animals. I grew up with several dogs that have lived and died in our family over the years. Heck i can even enumerate their names even when i am asleep. Spending the summer with my dogs are my way of relaxation. I play with them, running around with them like crazy in our yard and teasing them when I get bored in this 2000 sq compound of ours. I am currently taking care of six dogs: Dalmacious, Brandy, Pupa, Scotch, Halle Bury and Mielle. Among the six, Mielle is my favorite. Not because he is a pure breed beagle but because it just happened that he is the first dog that I have taken care of personally like those pets that we see on TV. I cannot describe our relationship (haha) because for me Mielle is my bestfriend. Sometimes nga mas maiintindihan ka pa nya kesa sa mga taong plagi mong nakakasama. I don’t treat him as a dog in some level. I don’t know if you will believe me, but I talk to him as if he’s a real person. And sometimes I am amazed on how he able to understand my commands and requests.
Minsan hahanga ka talaga sa talino nya. When ever he doesn’t want the food I give him, he push away his dish. or if he is thirsty, he goes in front of the water faucet on our garage and sits there with his tongue hanging on his mouth. O pag ayaw naman nya ng tubig at gusto nya ay pagkain, ibinububo nya ang tubig. During the night I set him free because I can’t let him go during the day because there are so many people going in and out of our gate. Mielle is the worst fugitive ever. He always try to wander outside when he sees the gates are open kaya sa araw kinukulong ko sya. Beagles tend to get lost because they use their nose to sniff and smell the ground. And sometimes when they are too preoccupied with their noises, they just find themselves lost. And that’s what i am avoiding. Mielle is too rare here in our village so he’ll be an easy target by dog nappers. During the night when it’s time to sleep. He sleeps on the bench just outside my window parallel to my bed. Weird ano? pero he does that every night. I never taught him to sleep there. I just found him already snoozing when I went outside to breathe some fresh air. And nakakatuwa kay mielle, whenever I sit on a bench, tatalon yan sa tabi ko at dun hihiga at ihihilig ang ulo nya sa binti ko. haha I did not taught him that also. Kaya Mielle is our family’s useless but favorite dog ever, he compensates his laziness by his ability to remove stress.
One time when me and my nephews watched the Transformers movie last year, we saw this trailer of the movie Underdog. When we saw the dog playing the role, we all exclaimed in unison: Si Mielle! everybody stared at us inside the cinema wondering why the heck did we yell. Tingnan nyo kamukhang kamukha nya:

look at how he sits haha. Ganyan sya pag naupo, feeling nya sya yung Sphinx sa Egypt.

Ganyan naman sya umupo. Nakasayad yung giant “kwan nya” sa semento haha
Wagging his tail. Kung naging tao si Mielle, eto na siguro ang pinakatamad na tao sa mundo.
Pero pinaka malambing sa lahat…

And as a sign of protest for tying him up, he peed on the terrace haha
Pag ganyan ang hitsura nya at aali-aligid, isa lang ibig sabihin nyan, nakaka amoy yan ng tsibog
kahit kamay mo aamuyin kung ikaw ba ay kumain na
Mielle has a set of “glow in the dark” eyeballs haha
astig tumindig si mielle no?
Mielle is our family pet hehe. Everybody loves him. Even my dad who is not a dog lover became an instant fan of Mielle.
My niece and nephews are very fond of him.
even my friends love him…
My Mielle may not be Hollywood’s Underdog…
But he will always be our family’s Super Dog.

Di ako mahilig sa mga maliit na aso tulad nito, ang gusto ko talaga yung malalaki like St. Bernard, Siberian Husky at German Shepherd, pero mielle is an excemption

Ang laki nung aso tsaka nung amo ahahahaha. Hoy palit tayo bilis hahaha. Yung aso ko so Anjo isa siang hound dog eh. Basset hound sia. Nung bata pa un napagkakamalang beagle din. Kita mo ba sia sa Pwendster ko? hehehe.Mahilig din ako sa aso. Teka kung malala ko ang mga names nila mula nun isa isahin ko bwahahaha.
Si Shebbah ang german shepherd na nag iwan ng peklat sa baba ko. Coogie, lady, poochie, lazy, potpot hayan nakalimutan ko ung iba hahaha. 3 jan twice naming ginamit ang name kasi labs namin sila hehehehe.

i’m fond of dogs too. though i prefer bigger dog breeds. i have a labrador back home pero andun sya with my parents house. di pwede kay tifa kase mahilig mandamba.
maybe when tifa is ready for her own dog, i’ll buy her a golden retriever. i hope that would be sooner

am not sure, pero hindi rin ako dog lover nor cat lover, ah basta am not a pet lover, hay ewan ko ba. pero dati we used to have dogs at home din naman at lab ko rin naman sila pero… matrabaho e. kaya my kids, i dont know, medyo maarte ako sa ganyan. they have been pleading for a rabbit, a dog, a cat but i always tell them we have kois in the garden… well, let’s wait and see as my hubby is easy when it comes to the kids… baka bukas meron na kaming pet, hehehe.

i remember when you went here with reynz and ambo di ka makakibo nung makita mo aso namin na si dalmacius.
naku dito sa amin ang daming stray dogs kaya nagpabakod din kami kasi langkay langkay ang pumapasok sa bakuran namin na aso tapos inaaway mga aso namin o di kaya binubuntis haha
ang secret lang pag may aso na bumabatok sayo o hinahabol ka ay titigan mo sa mata. once na tinitigan mo na sila sa mata maiintimidate na sila. thn yumuko ka at kunwari kukuha ka ng bato at ipupukol mo sa kanila. tatakbo na yun.

aww, ang cute niya.
dog lover din ako, marami kaming aso sa bahay eh. kaya lang dito sa bahay namin ng asawa ko, nakapulot ako ng ligaw na siamese cat kaya yun, inampon nalang namin. bawal mag-alaga ng aso dito eh. walang paglalagyan. 
namimiss ko na mag-pet ng aso.
