I am a big fan of American Idol and I also was able to see some of the episodes of the Philippine Idol shown on ABC 5. I was somewhat disappointed with the transferring of the Idol franchise since I was (though not satisfied) happy about the Idol ABC5 had shown. The only thing I thought was lacking is the network's advertising ability. Furthermore, everything from the host, quality judges, good setting and even the sound quality is just above average. MAKE THE SHOWS LIVE! Whoa! Here it goes.. when i was able to watch an episode of the Pinoy Idol while I was riding a bus with my classmates, i can't help but criticize almost everything shown on television. From the nasty setting, the freaking host, and even to the amateurish comments given by the judges down to the low standards of the show. Since the show does not aim to teach the hopefuls how to get better (unlike rival network's PDA2), the show should have picked contestants with greater talent than what they have now. The show just proved that they have low standards and that they can't show what Filipinos can do best. WAKE UP PI FANATICS! This show is a mess from the contestants to the judges to the host to the show itself. Philippine idol was a far more better show than this one with far more talented contestants. I wish they had included that super talented blind girl from the visayas whom Jolina said she cannot say yes to because of Pinoy Idols "guidelines". As for Ogie, it's as if that he wants the not so talented contestants to win by praising them constantly while criticizing the good performers. I don't understand this guy at all. Downhill talaga ang trajectory ng Pinoy Idol. Nanonood pa din ako, but the contestants seem mediocre. Yung categories ng mga kakantahin so far parang wala pang nag-pu-push sa kakayahan ng mga contestants, yet nagkakalat na ang iba sa kanila. To make it worse, parang bingi ang judges--- or they have "spells" where minsan ay naririnig nila ng tama iyong kumakanta. Minsan naman masagwa na yung kanta pero "I liked it" pa din ang comment ng judges. Eto namang si Wyngard, sumasama ang comments. Kala ko pa naman he would provide the meatiest comments tapos opposite ang nangyayari. Kadalasan wala siyang sinasabi, or worse, wala siyang sinasabing matino. Mas okay pa si Jolina sa kanya, sa totoo lang. I'm approaching the "indifferent" phase now, tamang tama naman inumpisahan kong panoorin yung Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2. Now, I never watched Season 1 kasi parang baduy, pero itong Season 2 I am watching dahil lang si Sir Ryan C ay andun (Huge fan here). Pero---yun nga, parang mas nakakaaliw pang panoorin itong PDA2 kesa Pinoy Idol. What a disgrace talaga. Tinalo pa ng ABC5 sa production values, samantalang hindi naman nalulugi ang GMA7.
