Survivor Philippines unleashed… move over Fear Factor Philippines
By bluepanjeet on May 15, 2008 in Survivor Philippines

Survivor Philippines will come our way on August this year via GMA 7. Host was officially announced last April 28, 2008 and it will be Paolo Bediones who will bring us the one sole Survivor of the Philippines. Bediones was chosen because apparently he had a very good track record with his former top-rated show Extra Challenge. Bediones was earlier turned down by FremantleMedia to host the currently running talent search Pinoy Idol but was vindicated with the acquisition of GMA7 for the rights of the Survivor Franchise. As early as this month, Survivor Philippines has already kicked off in the provinces for some series of auditions. The auditions were held in Davao (May 1 and 2), Cebu (May 5 and 6) and Iloilo (May 8 and 9). The other leg of the audition will be held in Dagupan (May 16), Baguio (May 17 and 18), and in Mega Manila on May 21 to 23. GMA7 has clarified that Survivor Philippines is not a talent show so those who will audition should have determination and must be physically fit. Good thing that the age limit is considerable, between 18-60 years old unlike Pinoy Idol which only allowed up 16-28 years old (Killjoy!)
PAUTAKAN, PAGALINGAN AT PATATAGAN!
(Outwit, Outplay, Outlast)
I just hope that this will not be a disappointment like the Pinoy Idol. But I’m 95% sure that Survivor Philippines will be better since the host is well experienced, spontaneous and is also very fit when it comes to physical challenges. As of this writing, Bediones is undergoing rigid training for the program and GMA7 have axed his game show called Tok Tok Tok to give way to this No. 1 reality show in the world. It is rumored that the location of the 16 outcasts will not be within Philippine territory but a whole new island that has not been touched by Media networks.
This would be a very interesting show since it will be a big task for the staff of Survivor Philippines to create challenges that will somehow make life harder for Filipino outcasts. We all know that Pinoy’s are very resourceful and not fully urbanized even if you are the biggest conyo in the galaxy. This is the show that will really change the landscape of Philippine television… and even now, ABS CBN fanatics are already threatened by the mega changes that GMA7 has unleashed, and are making noises in forums and youtube by their black propaganda against SP. Well for GMA fans, they only has this to say: MOVE OVER FEAR FACTOR PHILIPPINES, YOU SUCK!
Fear Factor Philippines was awarded to ABS CBN by Endemol, the same creator of Big Brother Franchise, and is rumored to be Survivor Philippine’s Biggest rival on the ratings game. In the US, Fear Factor did not overshadowed the popularity of Survivor and was even trailing the latter in the ratings game. Here in the Philippines will history once again repeat itself? I bet!
With these developments, I think I’m going to watch local networks again. You see when there is a network war, it is the viewers who always win. Competition bring good shows. So to all OFWs and Migrant Pinoys out there who have no Pinoy TV and only have TFC, well its time for you to switch cables because this show is going to be the year’s most exciting TV show in the country. Hold on to OTWOMD as we bring you the episode by episode update on Survivor Philippines.
Just a note to ABS CBN, don’t use the the “ratings cheating” non-sense again, lumang tugtugin na yan!

What kind of hardship can these networks think of when it is hardship alone just to be Filipino? Ano ba ang di pa nararanasan ng mga Pinoy? Self-flagellation –tama ba ang spelling?, eating inedibles, swimming in muck and flood…ano pa ba ang pwedeng ilagay sa harap natin na di kaya ng Pinoy. Nada…

Survivor is handled by “News and Current Affair Dept.”, and as we know most shows handled by them are either award-winning/worth watching.
btw, nice blog! keep it up.

Bluep, I’m excited about all these new shows. I used to enjoy watching both the Fear Factor and Survivor series, that is until we left for abroad. I am more of a Survivor fan, though.
Mukhang mapre-pressure akong mag sign-up for a new cable subscriber ha so I can watch these shows. Sige, in the meantime I will just wait for your updates.
